Coldplay Release New Album Music of the Spheres: Stream

Coldplay have released Music of the Spheres, their new album and ninth studio full-length to date. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. Music of the Spheres was produced by Max Martin, the Swedish mega-producer responsible for countless No. 1 hits, and follows Coldplay’s 2019 full-length Everyday Life. It unabashedly leans into today’s pop radio style, which means there’s funky percussion, disco-esque beats, and the soft delivery of R&B production. Dispersed throughout are cold, twinkly, electronic notes meant to imitate the computerized sounds we associate with outer space. The new album spans 12 tracks in total, including the alien-touting song “Higher Power,” the 10-minute-long single “Coloratura,” and their crossover collaboration with BTS called “My Universe.” Perhaps unsu...

Everything We Know About Adele’s 30 (So Far)

Adele is coming. After a nearly six-year hiatus since the release of 2015’s 25, the superstar is returning with her long-awaited fourth album. Needless to say, the music has been a long time in the making. As rumored comebacks came and went, and fans the world over eagerly crossed their fingers for the next “Hello,” Adele was busy living life and weathering heartbreak. After marrying Simon Konecki in 2018, the singer chose to embrace life as a stay-at-home mom, raising the couple’s son Angelo, who’s now almost nine. However, by the following April, Adele and her husband had split, with the star filing for divorce in September 2019. And all of the singer’s heartache, struggle, and resilience made it into the coming LP. “I feel like this album is self-destruction,” she said in a new cover st...

James Hetfield Recalls When Metallica Recruited Another Singer as Their Frontman

As the frontman of Metallica, James Hetfield is one of heavy metal’s most recognizable singers. However, had the iconic band gotten its wish, he may have been better known solely as the group’s rhythm guitarist. Hetfield hosts a new segment called “Road Dog Brothers” on the Mandatory Metallica channel on SiriusXM, and in it he recalled a time when the band offered the lead vocalist job to Armored Saint’s John Bush. Hetfield began, “A lot of [our] early memories were celebrated with a band called Armored Saint, who were a fellow L.A. band back in the early ’80s.” He added, “When we were getting started, obviously John Bush was a singer we got to know really well, and really, really tried to get him into the band as a singer. It didn’t work out. He was dedicated and very in love with what he...

Bo Burnham’s Inside (The Songs) Declared Ineligible for Comedy Album Grammy

For the 64th year running, the trophy for least intelligible award show goes to the Grammys. As Billboard reports, the Recording Academy has declared Bo Burnham‘s Inside (The Songs) ineligible to compete for Best Comedy Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Burnham shared his quarantine opus Inside in March, and it quickly became a pandemic sensation. Less a traditional comedy special than a musical exploration of an unravelling mind, it captured the zeitgeist a second time when Inside (The Songs) dropped in June. The special has already taken home trophies at other, more reputable award shows, including Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special at the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards. A Best Comedy Album Grammy for ...

Adele Releases First New Single in Six Years “Easy on Me”: Stream

At long last, Adele’s first new single in six years is finally here. It’s called “Easy on Me” and it’s available to stream below. The video for “Easy On Me,” directed by Xavier Dolan, was shot last month in Quebec and begins in the same house featured in the video for her smash 2015 single, “Hello.” “Easy on Me” is the lead single from 30, Adele’s first album in six years and her follow-up to 2015’s touching full-length 25. The 33-year-old pop superstar has been dropping hints and quotes about her upcoming LP for a while now, but she didn’t officially confirm its title or release date of November 19th — which, by the way, is a big enough deal to cause Taylor Swift to move Red (Taylor’s Version) up by one week to November 12th, so as to avoid competition — until just yesterday. Adverti...

With Juno, Remi Wolf Signals That the Future of Pop Music Is Already Here

“Remi Wolf is a crazy bih but is also hella nice and sweet sometimes but also likes to yell at people but has figured out that maybe instead of yelling at people she can just sing.” This is the description that greets users who visit Remi Wolf’s official Spotify artist page. She’s arrived on the indie-pop scene in a neon and rainbow-drenched burst and has become something of a festival darling over the past year. Active social media users probably heard her track “Photo ID” on TikTok, but Wolf’s budding discography is much more than the viral hit may have suggested. Juno, her debut full-length album, is an odyssey through a world of oddities. In a recent interview with Consequ...

Korn Drummer Is Third Member of Band to Test Positive for COVID-19 on US Tour

Korn have had a rough go of it on their current tour. The band has had three separate members test positive for COVID-19 during the outing, the most recent being drummer Ray Luzier. A few shows into the US trek in August, singer Jonathan Davis contracted COVID-19, forcing the band to postpone a number of shows on the tour. Just a couple shows after David returned to the stage, guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer tested positive in September, but the band resumed touring, enlisting J.R. Bareis of fellow Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch’s side project Love and Death. Today (October 14th), Korn informed fans that Luzier has just tested positive, as well, stating: “Unfortunately, Ray has tested positive for COVID, and he will not be playing the next three shows in Vegas, Fresno, and Oakland.
