SZA has announced the brief “Good Days Fall 2021” tour, a run of five new November dates culminating in a previously-announced performance at Day N Vegas Festival. This jaunt through the southwest is named for SZA’s December 2020 track, “Good Days.” That’s just one of the many recent singles fans are likely to hear on tour, because while her first and only album, Ctrl, is already four years old, the neo-soul singer has been busy sharing oodles of silky smooth music. Over the past year she’s also dropped “Hit Different”(which ranks among our 50 favorite songs of the 2020), as well as the trio of SoundCloud singles “Joni,” “I Hate You,” and “Nightbird,” and “The Anonymous Ones,” which she recorded for Dear Evan Hansen. In support of all these loosies, SZA will hit th...
After blowing up during the pandemic, Remi Wolf arrived in Brooklyn last week to deliver her sold-out headlining show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Even though this is only her first official tour, it’s likely the last chance fans will get to see her in a venue this size; before the gig even started, her next New York concert at the much larger Webster Hall in February was already sold out. Consequence was on hand at the MHOW to catch up with the funky soul pop artist for our latest Artist of the Month spotlight. Of course, we stuck around to catch the show itself, and you can check out our fully photo gallery below — including exclusive behind-the-scenes shots and portraits. Also, read our review of Remi Wolf’s debut album, Juno, and snag tickets to all her upcoming tour dates via T...
Remi Wolf wants you to finally let loose at her shows. Zooming with MTV News in a baby-pink sweatshirt and an all-caps “deep funk and divine intervention” slogan baseball cap, Wolf, 25, recalls writing and recording her hallucinatory debut album, Juno, out tomorrow (October 15). The singer-songwriter’s powerhouse pipes and funk-infused sound have already scored her collabs with industry legends like Nile Rodgers and Beck, cementing her status as an alt-pop whiz kid. Her music is fun, frisky, and utterly her own. But what you can’t glean from her brazen lyrics or trippy Insta aesthetic is how much Wolf struggled personally while making the record. She was newly sober, living amid COVID-19-related lockdowns, and adjusting to life with her adopted French bulldog, Juno, the album’s namesake. “...
By Megan Armstrong As a young girl, Chelsea Cutler wrote on a whiteboard hanging in her childhood bedroom that she would one day play Radio City Music Hall, as if penning it in would make her wish come true. The 24-year-old singer placed a new emphasis on that goal in March 2020 during the worst of the coronavirus pandemic, when nationwide lockdowns forced her to cancel her headlining tour in support of her debut album How to be Human and return to her parents’ home in Westport, Connecticut. Since she dropped out of Amherst College to open for the pop artist Quinn XCII in 2018, the most rewarding thing for Cutler has been moving tickets and connecting with her fans in person. Every day, she would close her eyes and dream about being back on stage. “I’ve noticed that a huge thing with my de...

Billie Eilish stopped by Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, both as an interview guest and to perform “Happier Than Ever,” the title track to her new album. For her musical showcase, Eilish and brother FINNEAS set up shop on the rooftop of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. During the first movement of the track, Eilish walked in front of the iconic hotel sign, and as the camera moved with the pop star, FINNEAS slowly entered frame. The camera angles switched 90 degrees for the more violent second movement, as white lights flashed across the rooftop. The pop sensation also sat down with the late night host for an interview. Kimmel produced a bucket list Eilish had made when she was 12, which included things she had done (meet Justin Bieber) and things she had not (get kicke...

As Lindsey Jordan readies her next Snail Mail album, the 22-year-old indie rocker has offered up a new single, titled “Ben Franklin.” Check out the lovelorn track via its Josh Coll-directed video below. Driven by a head-nodding bassline and bright synths, “Ben Franklin” details a lingering heartbreak that seemingly will never end. “You’re gonna leave a stain,” sings Jordan. “Like a relapse does when you really try/ Damn, this time I really tried.” “I wanted to sonically and lyrically get out of my comfort zone with ‘Ben Franklin,’” explained Jordan in a statement. “It felt only right that the visual accompaniment should include dancing in front of a camera and holding a 10-foot snake close to my face.” Advertisement Related Video In the aforementioned music video, Jordan does indeed ...
