<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-26T22:25:43+00:00“>April 26, 2021 | 6:25pm ET After the pandemic postponed the 2020 edition of the Punk Rock Bowling festival, the popular gathering will be back in 2021 — albeit with significant changes from last year’s planned lineup. Circle Jerks, Devo, and NOFX will headline the three-day event, which takes place September 24th-26th at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center. Circle Jerks are a holdover headliner from the 2020 lineup, while Devo and NOFX take the place of Cock Sparrer and Madness. The rest of the bill is a combination of select bands that were slated to play in 2020, as well as newly added artists. Among the other notable bands on the 2021 lineup are Frank Turner...

Enhypen’s Dazzling Mini-Album Border: Carnival Is Verified Vamp Vibes

By Tássia Assis When MTV News connects via Zoom with Enhypen (stylized all-caps), the South Korean pop group’s seven members sit split into two neat rows: Heeseung, Jake, Jay, and Sunoo in the front, followed by Jungwon, Sunghoon, and Ni-ki right behind them. Their outfits are carefully coordinated in neutral hues, and their hair is styled with boyish side-parts, with the exception of Ni-ki, whose forehead is covered by a precisely placed ash-blonde fringe. Ranging from 15 to 19 years old, it’s only been five months since they debuted with their first project, Border: Day One, the highest-selling release of all the work put out by last year’s rookies. Yet despite their ages, the artists carry themselves with an air of poise — and maybe a little mystery. Across their lavish music video...

Concert Review: Korn Deliver “Monumental” Livestream Performance

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-26T16:38:47+00:00“>April 26, 2021 | 12:38pm ET Setting the Stage: Like most artists who released new albums in late 2019, Korn did not get the opportunity to mount a widespread tour in support of The Nothing – as the COVID-19 pandemic took care of that (particularly a summer 2020 outing that would have seen them co-headlining with Faith No More). So, why not a global streaming event? Titled “Korn: Monumental”, the performance was broadcast Saturday (April 24th) from the set of the interactive Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience in Los Angeles, and produced by Danny Wimmer Presents (known for rock festivals like Sonic Temple, Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and more). Taking ...

She’ll start off the trek on April 11th and 12th with a two-night stand in San Francisco, making stops in Seattle and Portland before cutting across the heartland to Denver, Minneapolis, and Chicago. From there it’s north to Toronto and Montreal, then back across the border to Boston, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. Saway...

Van Morrison Blames Negative Reaction to Anti-Lockdown Songs on Lack of Freedom of Speech

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-26T17:15:23+00:00“>April 26, 2021 | 1:15pm ET Van Morrison has been an outspoken critic of the UK COVID-19 lockdowns, going as far as releasing an anti-lockdown song series. In an interview with The Sunday Times, the Irish musician claimed the negative reaction to his song series is the product of freedom of speech no longer being “in the framework.” Seeming to confuse freedom of speech with freedom from criticism, Van Morrison remarked, “A few people got a petition together to end the lockdown, but nobody pays attention to petitions, do they? If I can write about it, I do. Poetic licence, freedom of speech . . . these used to be OK. Why not now? I don’t understand it. Some peopl...

Ramones’ Self-Titled Debut Sparked a Punk Movement That Would Span Decades

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-25T16:25:45+00:00“>April 25, 2021 | 12:25pm ET Editor’s Note: On April 23, 1976, four twentysomethings from Queens with shades, blue jeans, and leather jackets released their self-titled debut and started the punk rock movement. Our own Lindsay Teske takes a look back on those days as the Ramones’ first record turns 45. The 1970s were destined to undergo a cultural shift. The many effects of the Vietnam War had long been taking their toll, the bizarre circus of the Nixon and Ford presidencies had fatigued many and generated a deep sense of distrust in the government, and the cherry on top of it all was an ongoing recession that absolved the idea of stable employment for countless...

Sparks and Todd Rundgren Reunite for New Song “Your Fandango”: Stream

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-23T15:05:08+00:00“>April 23, 2021 | 11:05am ET Sparks have reunited with the producer who gave them their big break, Todd Rundgren, on the new song “Your Fandango”. While calling themselves Halfnelson in the late 1960s, brothers Ron and Russell Mael came to the attention of Rundgren while he was working for Albert Grossman. At Rundgren’s urging Grossman signed Halfnelson, and after the duo rebranded as Sparks they had their first minor hit with “Wonder Girl”. The rest is art pop history. Their latest collaboration is bonkers fun. “Everybody loves it when you do your fandango,” Sparks sing. “When you do your fandango/ When you do your fandango.” There’s a harpsichor...
