HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Paras Griffin / Getty “Cultures Biggest Night,” aka the BET Awards 2022, went down Sunday night and did not disappoint when it comes to those classic moments that left social media reacting. BET Awards 2022 Was A Bit of A Mess The 22nd annual BET Awards started on a high note with a spirited performance from Lizzo, who rocked the Microsoft Center in Los Angeles with her latest feel-good record, “it’s About Damn Time.” Second-year host Taraji P. Henson then took over breaking, reeling the crowd back in with her opening monologue where she touched on the recent horrendous Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe V. Wade. HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Many people took issue with BET snubbing Lil Nas X from the annual BET Awards (on Pride Day no less) and surprisingly enough, Jack Harlow turned out to be the most vocal person on the subject. According to Popsugar, the “Nail Tech” artist decided to protest the Lil Nas X snub and took to the awards show rocking a Lil Nas X shirt and posed up a storm on the red carpet in the attire to let everyone know LNX should’ve been there with him. He was. In spirit… and in shirt. Still, we’re sure Lil Nas X would’ve preferred to have been there as he’s been vocal about his displeasure over being snubbed. Prior to the show, Lil Nas X called out the network after receiving zero nominations this year, despite being awarded with various accolades fr...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Mark Reinstein / Getty Samuel L. Jackson had a biting question via social media for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas after the judge made a call to overturn rights concerning same-sex marriage and contraception. The actor’s angry question came in the wake of the Supreme Court voting to eliminate access to abortion by a 6-3 vote, overturning the landmark decision in the 1973 Roe V. Wade case. In an opinion related to the vote, Thomas wrote that the same argument behind the majority opinion that abortion was not protected by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution could be applied in the future to overturn decisions that granted people the right to same-sex marriage and using contraception. In response to that news, Jackson sent out a tweet on Friday (J...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: WezTeck / WezTeck Beauty supply company WezTeck has come up with an innovative product that will make old heads who came up in the ’90s and early 2k salty that it wasn’t available to them back when they had hair. (It’s me, I’m the old head who came up in the ’90s and early 2k.) Wez Teck has created a durag with an adjustable buckle. Bruh, HOW IS THIS JUST NOW A THING IN 2022??? Just think of all the Black teens and young adults who were trying desperately to develop waves in their hair and knew that if that durag moved an inch, those waves would quickly crash into nappy oblivion. Just think of all the Black men who woke up with Jim Jones’ cornrows because that durag just wouldn’t stay in place while they slept. Now, with this ingenious display of ingenuit...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Scott Gries / Getty VERZUZ, the friendly music competition sparked at the height of the pandemic and later evolving into a performance format, found its once-formidable hold on viewers waning. However, it appears that the platform is all the rage once again in the wake of the one-sided Omarion vs. Mario debacle. We won’t get into an exhaustive recap but essentially, Omarion, the former B2K star, locked horns with fellow vocalist Mario in an entertaining display of the pair’s catalog. Ahead of that battle, Ray J and Bobby V took on Pleasure P and Sammie in a battle that inspired a host of jokes, memes, and the requisite slander on Twitter. While some observers believe that Ray, Bobby, Pleasure, and Sammie started out strong, it was clear that the pip...
HipHopWired Featured Video For a minute there it seemed like Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s friendship was strained after Snoop said he didn’t feel Eminem was an all-time top 10 MC, but luckily the two got over that little nothing burger and have once again reunited to bring y’all some retro Hip-Hop flavor with some 2022 flair. Linking up for the semi-animated visuals to “From The D 2 The LBC,” Eminem and Snoop Dogg have a grand ol’ time in the studio using NFT ape faces to kick their verses after Snoop lights up a blunt the size of a brick. We’d probably feel like cartoon apes too if we blazed something that bananas. DaBaby meanwhile takes a trip to Lagos, Nigeria where he hasn’t been canceled by his fanbase and in his clip to the Davido assisted “Showing Off Her Body,” DB gets turnt with the ad...
