Naija Music Hottest Songs In Nigeria 2022

The Nigerian music scene has been awesome in 2022 and we have had some of the hottest songs on heavy rotations on our playlist. Nigerian artistes like Rema, Kizz Daniel, Asake, Oxlade, and many others held it down by releasing back-to-back hit singles that made an impact beyond Nigeria. This year we had some of the biggest tracks like “Calm Down” by Rema, Burna Boy’s “Last Last“, “Overdose” by Mavins, Oxlade with “Ku Lo Sa“, and Pheelz‘s “Finesse” etc. In retrospect, it was a good year for Afrobeats as many new school superstars like Omah Lay and Bella Shmurda dropped their debut albums. It’s no secret that the opioid epidemic is worsening across the country. In New York City, where one resident dies of an overdose every three hours, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has teamed up with the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife for groundbreaking new legislation: distributing free anti-overdose kits to nightlife establishments across the state’s five boroughs.  The hope, legislators said in a press release, is to combat accidental overdoses caused by pills or powders laced with fentanyl, a substance the United States Drug Administration found fatal doses of in 42% of pills they tested in 2021. This Nonprofit Is Handing Out Free Narcan at Music Festivals to Combat Fentanyl Poisoning

LISTEN UP, a project launched by non-profit organization This Must Be The Place, is touring around the United States this summer to hand out free Narcan kits and combat opioid overdose. The Columbus, Ohio-based organization was started by Ingela Travers-Hayward and William Perry. Police Presence at Music Festivals Linked to “Panic Overdoses”: Study

There’s a rising concern among researchers that substance policing tactics at music festivals are actually causing harm amongst attendees rather than preventing it.  Researchers at St Vincent’s Clinical School at the University of NSW explored the phenomenon of “panic overdoses” at music festivals—a reactionary behavior that causes attendees to consume high amounts of prohibited substances out of fear of being apprehended by law enforcement. The Guardian notes that the study began with a sample of 1,229 attendees, 30% of whom admitted their intention to use drugs, or had already done so. The most common drug preference was MDMA. Coroner reveals what killed Twilight actor, Nigerian girlfriend

A coroner has revealed that an overdose of cocaine killed Twilight actor Boyce Gregory and his Nigerian girlfriend, Natalie Adepoju. The 30-year-old actor was found dead at his Las Vegas home alongside his girlfriend Natalie Adepoju on May 13. They were reportedly found by the actor’s cousin, who was also staying in the home at the time. After arriving at the scene, officers are said to have found a white ‘powdery substance’ inside the room. According to Clark County coroner, John Fudenberg, the duo died from an ”accidental” overdose of cocaine and fentanyl intoxication. Meanwhile, the couple left behind Gregory’s 10-year-old daughter, Alaya, and Natalie’s son, Egypt.
