APC group commends President Buhari, security agents for ‘decimating’ IPOB

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Legacy Awareness and Campaign has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and federal security agents for decimating separatist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Gunmen attack police station, kill cop in Akwa Ibom

Gunmen on Sunday attacked a police station in the Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and shot dead a mobile police officer. It was gathered that the officer was killed in the early hours of Sunday during a gun battle with the hoodlums which lasted several minutes. A source, who pleaded not to be mentioned, told our correspondent that one of the hoodlums identified as Imo Udo, was arrested while others escaped with bullets wounds. The source added that the armed men stormed the area with motorcycles and immediately opened fire directly at the police officers who returned fire but one them fell by the bandits’ bullets. Ebonyi governor: Some people in South-east think 2023 elections won’t hold

David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, says some people in the south-east region are convinced that the 2023 elections will not hold. Umahi said those with such a mindset believe that if elections do not take place, the national assembly will declare a state of emergency in the region. Baba Ijesha granted bail

Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, better known as Baba Ijesha, who was detained by police for alleged sexual assault has been granted bail. His lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana, confirmed this to newsmen on Monday. “He has been granted bail about one hour ago. We are working to perfect the bail. He was granted bail on health grounds. He has not been released. He will be released after his bail conditions have been perfected,” he said. Chadian rebels, government forces clash in area where slain leader was shot

Government troops and rebels clashed on Thursday in a region of western Chad where president Idriss Deby Itno was killed earlier this month. The fight in the desert region of Kanem, near Chad’s border with Niger, pits Libya-based rebels against forces loyal to a new military junta led by Deby’s son. The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) yesterday berated a former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, for comparing the group with the terrorist organisation, Boko Haram. Southeast governors lunches regional security outfit

The five governors of the Southeast region, on Sunday, launched Ebubeagu regional security to fight terrorism in the zone. The Chairman Southeast Governors Forum and governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, disclosed this to newsmen at the Imo government house, along side with other Southeast governors. Ebonyi: Gunmen attack police station in Izzi

Some gunmen in the early hours of Monday attacked the Iboko Divisional Police Station in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria’s South-east. A police station was similarly attacked by gunmen in Akwa Ibom State on Monday. It is unclear, for now, if the attacks on police facilities, which are on the increase lately in the South-east and South-south regions, are coordinated. Official: Why Imo government invited soldiers to Orlu

The Imo State Government has declared its support for the “ongoing military operation” in Orlu Local Government Area of the state. There were apprehensions in Orlu a few days ago when a military helicopter flew at low level in the area.
