Coldplay and BTS most recently performed “My Universe” at the 2021 Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park on Sunday, though the K-pop group joined the band onstage virtually as they appeared at the event from South Korea. “We collaborated with a band and we took their average age up about 15 years, but it’s been one of the most fun things we’ve ever done,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the crowd during the performance. “This is a song we did with BTS. This is a song about love who you love, and only that.” “My Universe,” which arrived on Friday, is the second single from Coldplay’s upcoming studio album, Music of Spheres, due out Oct. 15. Listen to the acoustic and remixed versions of “My U...
Coldplay could’ve died as villains, but after 25 years in the game they’ve lived long enough to see themselves become the heroes. The onetime least-cool act in rock and roll are flourishing in an increasingly poptimistic world, and for the climate crisis fundraiser Global Citizen Live, they teamed up with Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, BTS, Camila Cabello, and Shawn Mendes. Coldplay enlisted Eilish and FINNEAS for the X&Y cut “Fix You.” Performing in front of a golden backdrop that set off her new ‘do, Eilish’s breathy vocals were a perfect complement to this softer song, while FINNEAS’ mic was turned so far down that it’s unclear whether he was singing backup or lip synching. As for the Bangtan Boys, they didn’t make it to New York in person, but they did film a cosmic vide...

“We collaborated with a band and we took their average age up about 15 years, but it’s been one of the most fun things we’ve ever done,” singer Chris Martin told the crowd. “This is a song we did with BTS. This is a song about love who you love, and only that.” The band launched into new single “My Universe,” virtually joining forces with BTS, who were on a big screen behind them. Britney Spears returned to Instagram after a brief hiatus recently, and she’s back to sharing some of her selfies. Friday night (Sept. 24), the pop star posted a pair of pictures of herself in which she’s seen sweetly gazing up at the camera. With a floral crop top and her hair pulled half back, Spears’ look in the snapshots apparently reminded her of some old photos — her yearbook pictures. “These pics look like my high school yearbook pics … kinda cheesy but hey !!!” she wrote. He continued, “My friend said the phrase ‘my universe’ one day and I wrote down ‘my universe’ — I thought that’s a cool title. Then I took it to my friend and said, ‘OK, let’s do this demo for BTS.'” Later in the clip, Martin travels to South Korea for a touching first meeting with the boys of BTS, who refer to him as the “king of stadium tours,” a “role model” and a “great influence.” Other standout moments include Martin breaking into laughter as he attempts to sing in Korean, and watching the musicians circle around the mic to belt out the track’s soaring chorus. In addition to the documentary, Coldplay’s label Parlophone Records announced that the Supernova 7 Mix and acousti...
Ciara took fans for a ride with her latest TikTok clip in which she dances to Normani‘s “Wild Side” for Russell Wilson. The singer posted a steamy short video set to Normani’s single Saturday night (Sept. 25), along with the caption “I love his wild side” (and a few choice emojis). Ciara was on theme in a pair of animal-print pants as she danced in front of the camera and hopped atop a chair to give her husband a better view. Wilson makes a silly cameo at the end of the clip. “I love that SHEIN’s goal for this event is to create a one-stop destination for fashionistas to discover up and coming creators across all aspects of the industry,” Saweetie tells Billboard of the opportunity. “I love that SHEIN is opening that door for everyone by shining a light on the biggest of stars to the indie artists. Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes shared the stage — and some PDA — at this year’s Global Citizen Festival. In front of a screaming New York City crowd on Saturday (Sept. 25), Cabello joked about “introducing this next person in a formal way” before bringing boyfriend Mendes out. “That’s kinda weird ’cause we kinda know each other pretty well, and I think you guys know we know each other pretty well,” she quipped. The couple, dressed in coordinating colors (royal purple, blue and orange on Cabello, and a rusty orange on Mendes) delivered their familiar duet “Señorita” effortlessly as part of the star-studded fest that kicked off on Saturday with performances across several continents. The New York part of the event took place ...
“Past docs left bad aftertaste. I’m hopeful this one will be respectful,” he added about Controlling Britney Spears, the follow-up to February’s The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears. “I don’t blame CNN, BBC or Netflix (which got me thru lockdowns) for airing them because as an actor I tell other peoples stories too. I question producers who made them ‘just to shed light’ without input or approval from subject. Any credit for light being she should go to #freebritney.” Earlier this year, the BBC released The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship and CNN has an upcoming special called Toxic: Britney Spears’ Battle for Freedom. On Wednesday (Sept. 22), Asghari called out Netflix following the release of its trailer ...
