Victor Giwa: AGF Malami ordered my arrest for refusing to implicate Ibrahim Magu
A lawyer, Victor Giwa, says the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), ordered his arrest because he refused to implicate the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu. Giwa said this in a statement on Sunday after he was released from the EFCC custody. The lawyer was arrested alongside one Fatima Hassan last week shortly after they testified before the Justice Ayo Salami-led panel which is investigating Magu. Giwa’s former client, Donald Wokoma, who was a Director at Damijay Integrated Services, had told the panel through a sworn affidavit that his bank account was frozen by Magu unjustly and he subsequently hired Giwa to sue the EFCC. Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue has advised both current and former appointees in the state to always appear before investigative panels, when invited. Ortom gave the advice on Tuesday in Makurdi when the Committee saddled with the responsibility of investigating the current state of the State Teaching Service Board (TSB) presented its report to him. Osun governor appoints 16 new aides
Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday announced appointment of 16 new aides. A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ismail Omipidan, said an ex-lawmaker representing Obokun state constituency, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, was appointed Special Adviser to the governor on Civic Engagement. Four arrested in Abeokuta for riding bike from Minna
Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested four Northern Youths who sneaked into the State from Niger State despite an inter-state travel ban by the Federal Government. Parading the youths in Abeokuta, the State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Hammed Abodurin, said they were intercepted at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta at about 10:30 Tuesday for violating the State lockdown rules and for being in the public without using face masks and riding unregistered motorcycles. Anambra State Government said it has lost about N1.9 billion from Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, in six weeks, due to the lockdown order to contain the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.
