E&, Formerly Etisalat, is Looking into an African Expansion

e&. Image sourced from The National News. E&, formerly known as Etisalat, a major telecom group based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is reportedly looking to begin expansions into new markets in Europe, Asia and Africa. The firm is also seeking to expand beyond telecoms into new products such as financial technologies in a bid to drive new growth, says E& CEO Hatem Dowidar. According to Business Day, the company is exploring a new range of possibilities outside of the UAE, including potential fresh joint venture, acquisitions and listings of subsidiaries – however it still wishes to keep control of all its units, says Dowidar, adding that “While telco is a good business, and we’re still focusing on telco — as for us it is the money-generating cash cow — the long-term growth...

SA’s 4 Fastest Mobile Internet Operators Ranked in 2022

Internet and connectivity speed tester Ookla has released its market analysis for South Africa, ranking the country’s fastest mobile internet operators. Ookla places the most emphasis on the median speeds as those represent what most mo...

Lasath Punyadeera, Head, Personalisation, Standard Bank. In a world with increased competition and ever-evolving customer expectations, companies are using data now more than ever to make more informed business decisions. This approach to using data has been integrated into almost every industry, with financial services being one of the front-runners. The value of data and analytics lies in its ability to solve real world problems through precise integration of data, statistics, mathematics, and technology.
