The Kids in the Hall Literally Rise from the Dead in Season 6 Red Band Trailer: Watch

Cue the bass and roll footage of Toronto, The Kids in the Hall are back. Over 25 years after Season 5 ended, and some 12 years after the 2010 miniseries Death Comes to Town, everyone’s favorite Canadian sketch troupe is literally rising from the dead in the new Red Band trailer for Season 6. The preview opens with ominous lightning as a backhoe exhumes a grave marked “THE KIDS IN THE HALL TV SERIES 1989-1995.” The camera finds Dave Foley, Bruce McCullouch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson six feet under, and together they wake up screaming. The trailer cuts to Foley and McKinney playing the suits responsible, with McKinney dusting off his impression of the series’ executive producer Lorne Michaels. “Well, the curse is lifted and the kids are b...

Russian Doll Season 2 Review: Natasha Lyonne’s Metaphysical Comedy Continues to Screw With Time

The Pitch: Nearly four years after the Birthday That Just Kept Killing Them, Nadia Vulvokov (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan Zaveri (Charlie Barnett) are still free of the cosmic death wishes that tied their fates together in the first place. Well, mostly. While neither seems in imminent danger of falling down a flight of stairs or getting walloped by an errant taxi, neither do they seem to have particularly warmed to the idea of being alive in a world that deals people such uneven hands. This means that as yet another of Nadia’s birthdays is approaching — and not just any birthday, but her milestone 40th — they are neither of them surprised when the universe decides to step in and screw with their experience of time once more. In Nadia’s case, this screwery takes the form of a No. 6 train that i...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Dealt In to Rian Johnson’s Murder Mystery Series Poker Face

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will attempt to hide his tell in Rian Johnson’s upcoming Peacock series Poker Face, reports Variety. Details about Gordon-Levitt’s character and how many episodes he will appear in the mystery drama are being kept under wraps, but he is joining star and executive producer Natasha Lyonne. Not much is known about the series, except that it will follow a procedural format tasking Lyonne’s character with solving a different murder in each episode. Back in March 2021, Peacock announced Johnson would serve as the creator, writer, and director of Poker Face, which will consist of 10 episodes. Although it marks Johnson’s first time writing a TV show, he has previously directed three episodes of Breaking Bad (including Season 3’s “Fly”) and one episode of Te...

Conversations With a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes Shows the Banality of Evil: Review

The Pitch: Years on, the American public is still obsessed with serial killers — who they are, what makes them tick, the lurid details of their murderous escapades. No one knows this more than the folks at Netflix, who toss out a new true-crime documentary every other week, and whose biggest hits include shows like Mindhunter. One of the platform’s biggest hits was 2019’s Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, which assembled a four-part chronicle of his crimes, his history, and the trial that ignited the public’s imagination. Now director Joe Berlinger is back with a follow-up, The John Wayne Gacy Tapes, drawing from nearly 60 hours of recorded interviews with another infamous mass murderer to tell another tale of lost innocence, the nature of madness, and the various...

Molly Shannon Locked Herself in Hotel Bathroom to Escape “Relentless” Gary Coleman

Content warning: This article contains descriptions of sexual assault. In Molly Shannon’s new book Hello, Molly!, she recalled a disturbing encounter with Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman, though the way she tells it, the incident was not without humor. Back when Shannon was a young, struggling actress, Coleman attempted to sexually assault her, but he was so small that she “didn’t feel physically threatened,” and managed to literally toss him aside. Shannon detailed the story in an April 12th appearance on The Howard Stern Show. In the late 1980s, the future Saturday Night Live star thought she had caught her big break when she attracted the attention of agent Mark Randall, who also represented Coleman. But a meeting with Randall turned out to be a se...

Peacock’s Ted Prequel Series Reveals Main Cast Alongside Seth MacFarlane

A decade after we first met Ted, the blockbuster film franchise is coming to the small screen. Peacock announced today the main recurring cast in their highly-anticipated Ted TV series, with Seth MacFarlane reprising his role as the titular foul-mouthed, anthropomorphic teddy bear. Joining MacFarlane in the Ted cast are Giorgia Whigham (13 Reasons Why), Max Burkholder (Parenthood), and Scott Grimes (Oppenheimer). The series takes us back in time to 1993, when Ted’s 15 minutes of fame have passed. He’s now living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Burkholder), along with John’s parents (Grimes) and cousin (Whigham). Ted is a loyal, supportive companion to the Bennett family — in spite of his moments of poor influence on John. Advertisement Related Video As you might expect...

Outer Range Is Yellowstone Meets Ozark Meets Stranger Things: Review

The Pitch: Stretched out over the sprawling plains and towering mountains of Wyoming, a kind of Hatfields and McCoys situation plays out between two neighboring ranch families — the Abbotts, led by firm but fair patriarch Royal (Josh Brolin), and the Tillersons, an out-there clan led by Wayne (Will Patton), an ailing land-grabber with his eyes on the Abbotts’ western pasture. But things turn ever more complicated when a mysterious drifter named Autumn (Imogen Poots) shows up at the Abbotts’ doorstep and asks to camp on their land (and can pay for the privilege), her motivations unknown. That same day, a tractor-sized hole opens up in the ground along — you guessed it — the Abbotts’ western pasture, a bottomless black pit covered in smoke, seemingly leading to nowhere. Where did it com...

Should Leah Be More Understanding Of Jaylan’s Teen Mom 2 Move?

Leah and Jaylan have repeatedly stated their intentions to live closer to each other and not date at a distance. But during tonight’s Teen Mom 2 episode, the couple — who just officially became boyfriend and girlfriend — experienced a setback in their shared goal. Jaylan got a job in West Virginia, but it was not as close to Leah as she had hoped and he needed to be “in person for a bit” (aka not work remotely). Leah pondered why he would not just stay in Georgia since they wouldn’t be in close proximity regardless. “It’s eight hours versus two hours,” he explained to Leah. “Georgia is out of reach, babe.” “I think long-distance is long-distance any way you look at it,” Leah countered. “It’s not like ...

Girls5eva Enter Album Mode in Season 2 Trailer: Watch

At the beginning of the Season 2 trailer for Girls5eva, the quartet seemingly try to use Instagram Live for the first time, only to find out nobody’s interested in a surprise first look at them in the studio. That doesn’t bode well for the eponymous group, who are now tasked with making a new album. The women of Girls5eva are excited at the prospect of the undertaking at first. “Finally we’re in charge of the sesh!” exclaims Dawn (Sara Bareilles). “Half our old songs weren’t even spell-checked,” remembers Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry). However, the record needs to be done in six weeks, and Girls5eva’s producer could be another “toxic dude.” Still, they’re determined to “make the most undeniable album of all time,” with Wickie consulting her “riff Rolodex” for assistance and Dawn putting ...

The Flight Attendant Season 2 Keeps the Story Going — and Soars: Review

The Pitch: When the first season of The Flight Attendant hit HBO in late November of 2020, it signaled a bit of a shift for star Kaley Cuoco (who also acts as an executive producer on the series). Known best for her longtime role on The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco entered new territory for many viewers with the twisty, darkly comedic mystery, and stuck the landing as an alcoholic flight attendant, imbuing the title character with something so human the audience couldn’t help but be sympathetic to her antics. Season 1 caught on quickly through word of mouth as the puzzle unfolded. Season 2, premiering on HBO with the first two episodes on Thursday, April 21st, picks back up with Cassie (Cuoco) living her very best life. Things are a bit different for our chaotic heroine — she’s relocated to Los ...
