The Simpsons Predicted Ted Cruz’s Tone-Deaf Vacation to Cancún

Once again, The Simpsons predicted the future decades before it happened. As several Twitter users have pointed out, Ted Cruz’s recent vacation getaway to Mexico while Texas suffered a catastrophic emergency echoed the scene in a 1993 episode of The Simpsons where Mayor Quimby essentially does the exact same thing. In the clip, which is taken from the episode “Marge in Chains” that originally aired back on May 6th, 1993, Mayor Quimby can be seen addressing his constituents during a press conference on TV. “People of Springfield, because of the epidemic, I have canceled my vacation to the Bahamas. I shall not leave the city,” he says, decked out in a suit and tie in front of his office backdrop. But then, a guy playing the steel drum walks in front of the camera, revealing that Quimby ...

What’s Streaming on Disney+ in March 2021

Disney+ is bringing back a few familiar faces in March. With WandaVision wrapping up, Marvel Studios will pivot to their next highly anticipated spinoff series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. As the title suggests, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return as — you guessed it — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Right behind those Marvel heroes is everyone’s favorite hockey coach Gordon Bombay. Yes, Emilio Estevez will return to the ice with The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which should give Mouse House their own Cobra Kai if there’s enough Zamboni power. Beyond those two blockbusters, National Geographic will unveil new documentary Own the Room, MCU fans in need of a refresher can tune into Marvel Studios: Legends, and for $30 extra bucks will get you Raya and the Last Dragon. South Park Returning with “South ParQ Vaccination Special”

An alternate spelling suggests an invasion of alternative facts in South Park’s just-announced one-hour episode, the “South ParQ Vaccination Special”. It airs Wednesday, March 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. This isn’t the first time the cartoon denizens have wrestled with COVID-19. Last September, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone kicked off Season 24 with “The Pandemic Special”, in which Cartman flourished in isolation while Randy began to suspect he had personally created the novel coronavirus. Now it’s time for the townspeople to protect themselves, but there’s a catch. According to the official description, “The citizens of South ParQ are clamoring for the COVID-19 vaccine. A hilarious new militant group tries to stop the boys from getting their teacher vaccinated.” Militant grou...

Netflix Picks Up Tim Burton’s Wednesday Addams Live-Action Series

Last October, we learned that Tim Burton was in the process of creating a live-action reboot of The Addams Family. It sounded like a shoe-in for the modern master of all things creepy and kooky to give the beloved horror sitcom a 21st century upgrade, and clearly Netflix was sold on the idea. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service has ordered an eight-episode season of the Burton-directed affair, which is not just an ordinary reboot. Titled Wednesday, the series will be a live-action offshoot of The Addams Family that focuses on the household’s brooding daughter, Wednesday Addams. Netflix’s official synopsis describes the show as such: “A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Acade...

It looks like that upcoming Mr. and Mrs Smith reboot with Phoebe Waller-Bridge isn’t the only thing Donald Glover has in the works at Amazon Prime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glover has signed a multiple-year, eight-figure deal with Amazon — and apparently he’s brought Malia Obama (!) onboard as a staff writer for one of his first projects there. The 3.15.20 rapper will also executive produce a handful of other projects for Amazon at large. One of those new projects is already starting to take shape. A potential TV...

How Teen Mom OG‘s Catelynn And Tyler Are Teaching Nova To ‘Work For What You Want’

As Nova gets older, Catelynn and Tyler want to to teach their kindergartner responsibility and that “nothing in this world is free.” “Every time we go to the store, she expects me to buy her a toy. And I do,” Cate told Ty during tonight’s Teen Mom OG episode, just before suggesting a solution to the problem. “I’m thinking chores where she can earn money, so that way she realizes you gotta work for what you want.” Next step: Bring it up to Nova. “Do you want to earn some money?” Cate asked her little girl while showing her a chore chart with “simple things” that would need to be done around the house. At first, Nova was not interested even after her mom explained a few choices (cleaning up toys, feeding the dog). Quickl...

Proud Boys Threaten Colin Kaepernick’s Miniseries Production

The filming location for the Netflix miniseries about Colin Kaepernick is on high security alert after a reported threat from the right-wing Proud Boys organization. On Friday, as TMZ reports, the anti-Black Lives Matter group was allegedly planning to protest the production about the former NFL quarterback-turned-civil rights icon. Producers were told in a memo last week that, “anti-BLM sentiments may protest against the production.” Additionally, two anonymous production members told TMZ that the office received an ominous phone call last week, believed to be from the militant far-right Proud Boys. Fortunately, the threat never materialized into anything physical. But TMZ reports that there were internal emails between executives and staff that added additional security measures in order...
