It Finally Happened: Deena And Angelina Spoke On Jersey Shore — After Nearly A Year

Eight little words and a single plate of bruschetta was all it took for two roommates to mend fences. Tonight’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation kicked off awkwardly enough with a family-dinner-turned-couples-retreat to welcome Pauly’s D’s main chick Nikki to the fam. (Sorry side piece, Vin.) Deena, who hadn’t faced her former roommate since that wedding, had agreed to attend on one condition: Angelina had to sit at the opposite end of the table. Following some mindless group chatter about oatmeal recipes, sweet tea, and scented pinecones, the meatball was the one to initiate contact for the first time in nearly a year with an innocent request: “Angelina, do you mind passing me the bruschetta?” (Also known as a simple ...

Saweetie’s Grown-ish Debut Is A Masterclass In ‘Boss Shit’

By Virginia Lowman Saweetie is a shooting star. The Bay Area-born rapper, née Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, has seen her career in the music industry rise like a meteor, blasting off with her sizzling 2018 EP High Maintenance and the cool follow-up, Icy, the next year; but not before cinching her degree from the University of Southern California in 2016, where she studied communications. As she gears up for the release of her debut full-length album Pretty B.I.T.C.H. Music, Saweetie’s going back to school — sort of — with a guest-starring appearance in Kenya Barris’s hit series Grown-ish. In her acting debut, Saweetie claims her spotlight as Indigo, a spirited rapper who counts Joey Bada$$ among her friends. Grown-ish’s third season, with a new extension out today (January 21) on Freefo...

Abigail Cowen Channeled Post Malone And Teenage Angst In Fate: The Winx Saga

By Emlyn Travis It’s difficult, actress Abigail Cowen explains, to remember a time when performance wasn’t part of her life. Raised with an insatiable love of the arts, she began piano lessons at age six and recalls holding frequent solo, living-room concerts for family members. Her passion for the spotlight only grew stronger when, at age nine, she begged her mother to let her sign up for acting classes. To Cowen, it felt less like a decision and more like a calling; a heavy, knowing feeling that radiated from within and told her no career would ever bring her as much joy or personal fulfillment. “It was a feeling of I need to do this or I will not be happy with my life,” the 22-year-old tells MTV News over the phone from her home in Orlando, Florida. “It literally feels like a weight in ...

Teen Mom OG Sneak Peek: Will Ryan Re-Establish Contact With Maci?

Maci’s restraining order against Ryan has ended, and Bentley’s dad is legally allowed to contact his ex. But the father of three isn’t exactly looking to resume contact. “She did an order of protection with about 30 lies last time, so I just don’t feel the need to speak to her and bring some of that back into my life,” the father of three tells Teen Mom OG producer Lorraine in the sneak peek, above, of the upcoming season premiere. Jen, Larry and Mackenzie are also present at the mini Edwards gathering. But the lack of communication between the two families has translated into less time with Bentley. “We haven’t seen him in a month,” Jen stated. How does Larry feel about the current situation involving his grandson? Watch him open up in...

Betty White Will Celebrate Her 99th Birthday By Feeding Two Ducks

It’s not every day that you turn 99 years old, but Betty White will hit that milestone this Sunday. The ongoing pandemic may have put a dent in any massive ragers she was planning, but the legendary comedian still intends to mark the occasion with a wholesome endeavor. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the Golden Girls star gleefully shared her itinerary for the big day on January 17th. “You probably didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway,” White said. “What am I doing for my birthday? Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by COVID, so I am working on getting The Pet Set re-released, and feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day.” There’s a lot to unpack in those few sentences. First, do you run a mile each morning? Because 98-year-old Be...

Ethan Hawke Cast as Villain Opposite Oscar Isaac in Marvel’s Moon Knight

Moon Knight (Marvel), Ethan Hawke (photo by Heather Kaplan), and Oscar Isaac (Warner Bros.) It’s Tesla vs. Poe: Ethan Hawke has been tapped to play the villain opposite Oscar Isaac in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight. The Hollywood Reporter has it that the deal has been closed and Hawke will officially be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as its latest antagonist. Exactly who that will be is not yet know. Moon Knight’s archenemy is a deranged mercenary called Bushman, though the character is typically depicted as a person of color; it would be shocking if Marvel decided to whitewash a character — even a villain — in 2021 (and probably equally shocking if they called a Black character “Bushman”). Other possibilities include Crossfire, the cousin of Ant-Man villain Darren “Ye...

Paramount Enters Initiative on Live-Action Dungeons and Dragons TV Series

Just a month after rolling out a character sheet for Chris Pine in an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie, Paramount and Hasbro are entering initiative on a new live-action television series based on the beloved game. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, John Wick-bard Derek Kolstad will pitch a concept and write the script. For more than 45 years, this game invented by Gary Gygax has enchanted roleplayers around the world. Its expansive lore draws inspiration from Tolkien, Lovecraft, mythology, and folklore. As the rules have grown more refined — and as the rulebooks have gotten fatter — D&D has developed a rich mythos of its own. Now the influenced has become an influencer, as blockbusters like Stranger Things have cribbed D&D‘s vocabulary on the way to making m...

R.I.P. Joanne Rogers, Wife of Fred Rogers Dead at 92

Joanne Rogers, an accomplished concert pianist and wife of beloved children’s television host Fred Rogers, has died at the age of 92. Joanne and Fred married in 1952 and remained so until his death in 2003. Following her husband’s passing, Joanne took on the role as chair emerita for Fred Rogers Productions. Joanne was also heavily featured in the acclaimed 2018 documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, and was involved in the making of the Tom Hanks-starring feature film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, in which she was played by Maryann Plunkett. She also had a small cameo in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Fred Rogers Productions released a statement confirming Joanne’s passing on Thursday: “Fred Rogers Productions is deeply saddened by the passing of Joanne Ro...

Saved By the Bell Star Dustin Diamond Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer

Former Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A representative for Diamond told TMZ that the actor “has cancer throughout his body [and] he’s currently receiving his first round of chemotherapy.” The exact type of cancer was not disclosed. Diamond played the role of Samuel “Screech” Powers on Saved by the Bell throughout the show’s entire seven season run. He later reprised the character in the sequel series Saved by the Bell: The College Years. In the mid-2000s, Dustin infamously starred in a sex tape — though he later claimed to have used a “stunt double.”; became a reality TV personality; and published an unflattering portrait of his years on Saved by the Bell. The book, in particular, caused a riff between him and the rest of the show’s cast — and...

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings Series Synopsis Teases Forging of “Great Powers”

Hmm, what could Amazon Studios mean? On Twitter, the producers of the long-in-the-works Lord of the Rings TV series have finally shared a synopsis, but it’s full of obscure hints about “great powers… forged,” and “the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen.” Inscrutable, yes? Nobody can figure out such complex hints — though we must admit, the words seem to have a familiar ring. The serialized epic was first announced in 2017 as a prequel to Peter Jackson’s twin trilogies, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. We later learned that JD Payne and Patrick McKay will handle showrunning duties, and that the events will take place in the Second Age, as described in Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. Second Age — that rings a bell. Isn’t that when the big bad villa...
