Adult Swim Sets Rick and Morty Season 6 Premiere Date, Promises “More Piss!”

Boom! Big reveal! Rick and Morty will be returning for Season 6 on Sunday, September 4th. Details on the animated sci-fi comedy’s latest set are scant, but a statement from Adult Swim announcing the premiere promises “Piss! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More piss!” Though a new season of the Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon-created series comes as no surprise due to the show’s massive 70-episode deal in 2018, the timing of its arrival remained a mystery after the slightly longer gap than usual following the end of Season 5 in September 2021. With no visual accompaniment to the news, we can only hope that the minds at Adult Swim are preparing to top last year’s video game trailer and live-action, Christopher Lloyd-starring promo. Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn Detained Until Immigration Office Recognized Eddie Munson

An inconvenient, but very effective litmus test for whether or not you’ve made it in showbiz is if your status makes your airport experience a little easier. At least, that was the case for Joseph Quinn, who was released from being detained by U.S. immigration because an officer recognized him as Stranger Things scene-stealer Eddie Munson. The actor talked about his troublesome travels during a recent visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I very nearly didn’t make it [here],” Quinn said, his British accent in full force. “I was taken into — I guess what you could call it — it was more of a dungeon. And I was asked to wait there for about 20 minutes and then I was summoned to this desk where someone asked me, ‘What are you doing in the United States, sir?’ I said, ‘I’m...

In Better Call Saul’s “Nippy,” The Future Is Now: Review

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Better Call Saul, Season 6 Episode 10, “Nippy.”] In its fourth-to-last episode, “Nippy,” Better Call Saul executed its most abrupt pivot yet. From just the title, we knew something different was in store, as a totally different naming scheme was in play (Saul does switch up its approach to episode titles from season to season, but within each season they typically remain consistent). But after seeing Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) in all his sleazy glory at the end of the previous episode, “Fun and Games,” it was clear that whatever was going to come next would be a departure from the past. However, this episode, written by Alison Tatlock and directed by Michelle MacLaren, catapulted us viewers a lot further forward than we might have e...

Breaking Bad Set to Leave Netflix: Report

Netflix’s deal for Breaking Bad has been mutually beneficial for both parties, even leading to the creation of a prequel movie exclusively for the streamer. Per TheWrap, Netflix’s license with Sony Television for Breaking Bad runs through February 10th, 2025. Netflix also has the streaming rights for the prequel series Better Call Saul, which has seen renewed interest since the final season debuted on AMC in April. Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings Named Permanent Jeopardy! Hosts

Alex Trebeck left huge shoes to fill, but two years after his death, it looks like Sony has finally found a new Jeopardy! host — or, rather, hosts. Per Variety, interim hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will stay on the game show permanently. Bialik and Jennings have been splitting hosting duties on Jeopardy! since last September, and according to a source familiar with the matter, the quiz show’s two-host format will help the program develop spinoffs. Bialik is expected to host primetime editions of the show, as well as the new Celebrity Jeopardy! in the works at ABC. “With all of our plans for Jeopardy! — which is more Jeopardy!, not less, more versions — we’re going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience, to represent the entire country, in or...

TBS Cancels Full Frontal with Samantha Bee After Seven Seasons

TBS has stabbed Full Frontal in the back, canceling Samantha Bee’s award-winning late-night show after seven seasons. “As we continue to shape our new programming strategy, we’ve made some difficult, business-based decisions,” TBS said in a statement to Variety. “We are proud to have been the home to Full Frontal With Samantha Bee and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work. We celebrate this extraordinarily talented cast and crew and look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them in the future.” Full Frontal launched in 2016, and while it was one of the few late-night shows with a female host, it further distinguished itself as one of the sharpest, most profane offerings on cable television. Critics loved it, and ...

Westworld Composer on Slipping Some Nine Inch Nails Into Season 4, Episode 5: Exclusive

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Westworld, Season 4 Episode 5, “Zhuangzi.” To read about the music of Episode 4, click here.] Did you catch the Nine Inch Nails cover in the newest episode of Westworld? Don’t feel bad if you missed it — so did Consequence, upon initial viewing. But composer Ramin Djawadi, as part of our weekly series of conversations about the music of Season 4, was kind enough to point out that yes, when Christina (Evan Rachel Wood) and Hale (Tessa Thompson) are having an awkward lunch together, there’s a subtle solo piano inclusion of “The Day the World Went Away” from The Fragile in the background. “If I didn’t know, I probably would’ve missed it too,” Djawadi says, once again reinforcing that when it comes to the HBO sci-fi drama, there’s always a lo...

Netflix is cracking down on users mooching off of their family members, friends, and exes: This summer, the streamer will begin to implement an “extra home” fee for those using the same account with people they don’t live with. The small fee, which equates to about $2 or $3, will go into effect on August 22th in Argentina, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. “If your Netflix account is being used on a TV outside of your home, you will need to pay an extra $2.99 per month for each extra home. This fall, AMC will resurrect Anne Rice’s iconic Interview with the Vampire for television, all part of the network’s plan to turn Rice’s works into an expansive new franchise. As seen in the Comic-Con trailer below, the new series is based on the 1976 novel about the life of vampires who exist among unknowing humans, updated for the present day. Not to be mistaken for the 1994 film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, the series adaptation of Interview With the Vampire features Game of Thrones’ Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Sam Reid as Lestat de Loincourt. The ebb and flow of their relationship is a key aspect of the show created by Rolin Jones, which was shot in Rice’s hometown of New Orleans. Eric Bogosian, Chris Stack, and Bailey Bass are also featured in the cast. While A...
