“For someone who spends an inordinate amount of time discussing beauty, admittedly, I have zero interest in painting my nails. I am, however, very into shellac and gel, which I have perfectly applied by a talented nail technician who has ruined DIY manis for me. Call me predictable, but I tend to flit between two shades—CND’s Wildfire, and The Gel Bottle’s Candy. Although bright and bold, they feel—to me anyway—like very grown-up, classic shades of red.
“However, there is one nail polish I have at-home on standby, and that’s Chanel’s Le Vernis Rouge Essentiel. The colour pay-off is incredible—it only needs two coats—and I really like the contrast of the deeper shade against the alabaster colour of my skin. It lasts better than any other polish I’ve tried and became my beauty lifeline during lockdown. So although it’ll never compare to my technician, Shelly, it’s a strong second.”
