NEW DELHI: In a crucial NFC East matchup, the New York Giants secured a 31-19 victory over the Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland. Quarterback Tommy DeVito delivered a stellar performance, throwing three touchdown passes, including two to running back Saquon Barkley.
Despite facing immense pressure with nine sacks, DeVito completed 18 of 26 passes for 246 yards, showcasing resilience in his second career start.Barkley, a key offensive weapon, contributed not only with touchdown receptions but also rushed 14 times for 83 yards.
The Giants’ defense played a pivotal role in the victory, forcing six turnovers, with Isaiah Simmons sealing the win with a game-clinching interception returned for a 54-yard touchdown in the final seconds.
Washington’s quarterback, Sam Howell, had a challenging outing, completing 31 of 45 passes for 255 yards but suffering three interceptions. A critical moment came when Chris Rodriguez Jr. fumbled late in the third quarter, leading to Barkley’s touchdown reception and a 21-12 lead for the Giants.
Randy Bullock added a 36-yard field goal to extend New York’s lead, but Washington responded with Howell connecting with Jahan Dotson for an 8-yard touchdown pass. However, the Commanders couldn’t complete the comeback, and Howell’s late interception sealed their fate.

The Giants’ victory marked their second in the last nine games, with both wins coming against the Commanders. With the NFC East remaining highly competitive, this win keeps the Giants in the mix despite a challenging season.
