U2’s Bono and The Edge Perform “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” On Irish TV: Watch

During a normal Christmas season, Glen Hansard and a gaggle of other Irish musicians would busk in the street to raise money for Ireland’s homeless population. This year, in order to abide by social distancing guidelines, the fundraiser was turned into an indoor livestream affair, and U2‘s Bono and The Edge showed up to keep the Christmas spirit intact. The duo performed a beautiful acoustic rendition of the Darlene Love staple “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on Ireland’s  Late Late Show. The U2 bandmates were joined on stage by Hansard, Philip Powell, violinist Vivienne Long and the Heyday Choir (via the IIrish Times). U2 released a recorded version of the cover way back in 1987, but seeing it performed in front of shimmering lights and ornate Christmas trees gives it a...

Viral TikTok Star Doggface Appears in David Guetta, MORTEN, and Lanie Gardner’s “Dreams” Music Video

With more than 80 million likes and 6 million followers to his name, 37-year-old TikTok star Nathan Apodaca, better known as Doggface, was an unlikely sensation, making national headlines back in September with a viral video set to the tune of Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams.” Turns out, the soothing clip of Apodaca peacefully longboarding and sipping Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice turned out to be exactly what the Internet needed.  The Idaho native’s video had already garnered support from countless celebrities and brands—including a copycat clip from Mac Fleetwood himself and a gifted pickup truck from Ocean Spray—when David Guetta and MORTEN added themselves to his list of fans. They casted Apodaca in the star role of their music video for thei...

Electric Forest Organizers “Considering Options” for Summer 2021 Dates

With a second vaccine now approved for use in the USA’s fight against COVID-19, dance music fans have begun to ask when their favorite festivals will be coming back. Seemingly spurred by the recent vaccination news or from the many fan requests, Electric Forest has provided an update on their plans for their 2021 return to Sherwood Forest. While organizers did not share anything concrete as there are too many variables at play this early in the vaccination stage of the pandemic, it’s good to see that they are working hard to send fans back to the forest once it’s safe to do so. In the statement, they also thanked fans for their patience and briefly mention ticketing details. More information about tickets will come with the official announcement of the fest’s dates....

Jonas Aden Hilariously Went Undercover and Hired Ghost Producers to Recreate His Sound

Jonas Aden has curated some of the finest YouTube content in the dance music world as of late, uploading an abundance of tips and tricks for aspiring producers and fun musical experiments. One of his more recent videos raised eyebrows as it takes on a sensitive topic in the EDM world—ghost producers. For a video challenge, the Norwegian producer used Fiverr to hire a variety of ghost producers to create songs matching his signature style. To avoid suspicion, he didn’t use his real name when reaching out to the producers and he intentionally crafted the messages to sound like they were from a less experienced musician. In the video, he details the whole process from contacting the sellers to showing off their final projects.  Without giving too much away, one of the most impressi...

This Free Virtual Silent Disco is Donating $1 Per Viewer to COVID-19 Musician Relief

It’s no secret that the pandemic has hit musicians especially hard, and Colorado company Tyler, The Creative—not affiliated with rapper Tyler, The Creator—is hoping to lend a hand via their upcoming “Stay Home Silent Disco 2” livestream on January 8th, modeled after the event’s March edition. With a private donor on board to contribute $1 per viewer up to $10,000, the free experience’s proceeds will be split between three local arts nonprofits. And because the event is free—again, it’s free—all you’ll need is an Internet connection to attend and lend your support. Arranged in a typical silent disco fashion, the stream will consist of three simultaneous electronic performances broadcast from the company’s website, with each Colorado-based...
