SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith has taken issue with Dr. Anthony Fauci “lying” to kids by saying Santa Claus will be able to travel on Christmas Eve despite the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Fauci, the country’s top infectious-disease expert, said during a CNN “Sesame Street ABC’s Of COVID-19 Town Hall” on Saturday that Santa is “good to go” this holiday season as he visited Santa himself to give him the COVID-19 vaccine. Children and Elmo asked Fauci how Santa Claus would be able to deliver presents amid the pandemic. “How did Santa get the vaccine, and is it safe for him to go into the house?” one child asked. “What if he can’t go to anyone’s house or near his reindeer?” another asked. Fauci replied: “Well, I ...
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has praised director Thomas Vinterberg‘s new movie “Another Round”, calling it “hands down my favorite film of 2020.” The Danish filmmaker is no stranger to METALLICA, having directed the music video for “The Day That Never Comes”, the first single from METALLICA‘s ninth studio album, 2008’s “Death Magnetic”. On Saturday (December 19), Ulrich — a fellow Dane — took to his Instagram to share the “Another Round” poster, and he included the following message: “Finally saw my friend Thomas Vinterberg‘s new movie ‘Another Round’, and it’s hands down my favorite film of 2020. “I remember being somewhat stunned and completely intrigued by the idea when he...

RATING: 7.5/10 With most of us hoping to make it through Christmas without contracting the dreaded plague and breathing our last to the strains of MARIAH CAREY, gung-ho partying might be slightly less prominent on our agendas this year. But nobody said it was non-festive to get horrifyingly drunk in isolation and headbang until our brains dribble out through our throbbing ears, did they? Good. Listen to the new CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY album and you may forget the last 12 months, imagining instead that the world is soon to be ruled by beer-swilling, mutant cyborg overlords, riding giant motorcycles and playing guitars made from human bones. “Written Destiny” ticks every filth-related box a diehard metalhead could wish for, tapping into the same demand for primal, ugly and antisoc...
Being the younger sibling of Sublime frontman Brad Nowell can be hard sometimes for Kellie Nowell, who never grew up wanting the spotlight. On his birthday and the anniversary of his death from an overdose in 1996, generations of fans mourn the loss of Long Beach’s influential frontman, but Kellie says she would opt to stay inside and keep her pain and sorrow to herself. “I think for about 15 years after he died, I didn’t want to talk to anyone, I didn’t want to hear music I didn’t want to, you know, just, I just couldn’t handle it,” she tells SPIN. As years went by, the love shown by fans allowed her to open up little by little as emails, Facebook messages and the desire for a tangible connection to Brad showed Kellie the importance of allowing herself to let people in for the sake of hon...
The United States Congress has agreed to a new bipartisan coronavirus relief package that allocates $15 billion in funding to independent movie theaters and concerts venues. According to USA Today’s Nicholas Wu, the relief package incorporates the Save Our Stages Act. First introduced by Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota over the summer, the act calls for six months of financial support to “keep venues afloat, pay employees, and preserve a critical economic sector for communities across America.” Under the original proposal, venues would be provided grants accounting for either 45% of a business’ operation costs from the previous year or $12 million in total — whichever is the lesser amount. Venues would then be allowed to use that money to pa...
