Armin van Buuren Employs Array of AI Tech to Deliver New Single, “Computers Take Over the World”

If there’s any question about the future of AI as a productivity enhancer, Armin van Buuren is removing all doubt. With his latest single, the superstar DJ and electronic music producer teamed up with an AI to co-create a bouncy, psytrance-inspired track fit for the mainstage.  The appropriately titled “Computers Take Over the World” essentially doubles as an AI-narrated walkthrough for producing a festival-ready dance beat. Like a true collaboration, the innovative approach in teaming up with AI manages to maintain some of van Buuren’s signature sonics while offering some qualitatively new flavors into the equation. Ivy Lab Announce New Album, Drop Haunting Music Video for “Balaclava”

Experimental electronic duo Ivy Lab are back again with “Balaclava,” the first single from their forthcoming LP, Infinite Falling Ground. Written over the last six months, Infinite Falling Ground has the feel of the duo’s most expansive and honest body of work to-date. Set to be released later in 2022, the album is said to explores themes like pain, regret and catharsis, according to a press release. Their new single “Balaclava” challenges the preconceived notions of an Ivy Lab release, elevating their electronic roots to a whole new level. The track, which Ivy Lab called “the calling card for the whole project,” finds melancholic synths swirling through thumping kicks as soulful vocals swell. And it comes with a haunting audiovisual, which alchemizes sadness with t...

A Burning Man Worker Who Cleaned Porta-Potties Has Gone Viral After Wild Reddit AMA

Zach saw some shit this past week. The Burning Man worker, who has decided not to reveal his last name for fear of reprisal from his employer, last week headed to Black Rock City, where he was tasked with keeping the portable toilets clean for the event’s long-awaited return. So what actually goes into such a task of keeping the playa’s dust storms from turning into a literal shitstorm? Zach took to Reddit for an honest AMA with curious Burners, offering a glimpse into his wild workweek deep in the Nevada desert. Burning Man attracts roughly 80,000 people to the metropolis of Black Rock City for a week of radical self-expression. That’s a lot of people, which in turn, is a lot of waste to deal with. “Deep playa in the am was an absolute nightmare,” Zach comment...

Audien Unveils Nostalgic Progressive House Anthem, “Drifting Away”

There’s one flag that Audien isn’t afraid to let fly, and it’s his love of progressive house.  So goes the artist’s latest, “Drifting Away” (with Joe Jury), a scene-setting anthem that captures the otherworldly magic of its title. Featuring a sprinkling of keys and lush synths, the track finds Jury’s voice floating like velvet above a celestial soundscape before it elevates into its heart-pumping drop. Altogether, “Drifting Away” is as nostalgic as it is invigorating.  “That’s the magic of progressive house: it’s timeless,” Audien tells EDM.com. “And I think ‘Drifting Away’ encapsulates that. It’s a timeless classic.” Scroll to Continue Recommended Articles ItR...

Sampa the Great’s Dynamic Leap

While studying at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, Sampa the Great encountered an “intense culture shock” — one that nearly stopped a journey of self-exploration and expression of her African culture. “Being visited with the actual reality of how the world works and how the world sees me as a young African girl, that experience was huge enough for me to actually stop expressing myself,” she says of this time period, which contributed to a two-year lull in writing. But that time in America was eye-opening for the now-29-year-old, helping her become one of contemporary rap’s most valued voices, thanks to her fearlessness and unparalleled ability to describe the world around her. Growing up in an artistic family, the Zambian-born, Botswana-raised Sampa Tembo started taking piano and...

Armor for Sleep Invites Listeners to Visit The Rain Museum

New Jersey’s Armor for Sleep first came onto the scene in the early 2000s during the rise of emo with their 2003 debut Dream to Make Believe. At a time when a sophomore record could make or break a band, Armor for Sleep found further success with their sophomore breakthrough, What to Do When You Are Dead (2005), a concept album following the protagonist’s suicide and journey through the afterlife. Then they followed it up with their major label debut in 2007’s Smile for Them before imploding and disbanding in 2009. But (like many of their 2000s emo compatriots) Armor for Sleep officially reunited in 2020, hitting the post-pandemic touring world and releasing their first album in 15 years, The Rain Museum (via Equal Vision Records). But unlike some of the nostalgia-fueled emo reunions, the ...
