Odd Jobs: Cartel’s Will Pugh Brings His Pop-Punk Legacy to the Golf Industry

Cartel may no longer be the full-time band they were a decade ago, but the Georgia pop-punkers’ shift to part-time status has allowed singer Will Pugh to follow his other lifelong passion on the golf course. The lifelong golfer went from one of the better-playing rockers on the planet to entering multiple facets of the sport’s industry itself. What began as a hobby of building and custom fitting clubs for himself and his friends quickly turned into a full-time job with Edel Golf — a relatively small brand that sees eye-to-eye with his belief that clubs should be made specifically to fit their users. SPIN spoke with Pugh via Zoom to hear about balancing his two very different (yet surprisingly connected) passions and how one career opened him up for another. Courtesy of Will Pugh SPIN: Obvi...

Wayne Knight, who played Jerry Seinfeld‘s arch-nemesis and mail carrier Newman on Seinfeld, recently addressed the show’s series finale and admitted there could have been a lapse in judgement. In a recent appearance at the Steel City Convention, Knight explained that the finale’s goal of honoring all the characters and plotlines that made Seinfeld one of the most beloved shows of all time simply fell flat. ”I think I’m like the rest of the public as far as the finale goes. I don’t think you can end that show in a way that would work,” he explained. “The idea of doing a retrospective winds up feeling like a clip show, so I think that they tried to pay tribute to all of the people who had walked through that set, all the great performances, all the great people. And it didn’t quite land...

Sonic Symbolism consists of conversations between Björk and philosopher/writer Oddný Eir and musicologist Ásmundur Jónsson. Listeners can get a taste of what’s to come via this trailer. “When I get asked about the differences of the music of my albums, I find it quickest to use visual short cuts,” Björk says. “That’s kind of why my album covers are almost like homemade tarot cards. The image on the front might seem like just a visual moment, but for me it is simply describing ...
