Look Inside a Space Opera Dance Party Inspired By Daft Punk at LA’s Biggest VR Dome
Daft Punk may be no more, but a new experience in L.A. won’t let the legacy of the robots fade anytime soon. We recently attended a Daft Punk-inspired concert experience called “CONTACT,” an immersive show that marries a “multi-sensory dance party” with a space opera. The 360° show went down at Wisdome, the largest virtual reality dome in the City of Angels. An evolving roster of DJs and multidisciplinary performers appeared throughout the night, donning realistic versions of Daft Punk’s iconic helmets and suits. If she could talk, 10-month-old Minnie would probably say it’s never too young to start raving. The goddaughter of chart-topping “Losing It” producer FISHER, Minnie recently hopped on a private plane to accompany him at Family Piknik, an open-air music festival in the south of France. Minnie could be seen backstage, bopping to FISHER’s house music with a huge smile on her face alongside her mom, Ellidy Pullin. Teaming up with publisher Private Division, the studio announced the news of a “new game set in the literary Middle-earth universe of J.R.R. Tolkien.” Few details were revealed about the title but it’s reportedly still in the early stages of development and could be released as early as March 2024. Fans should note that the game is taking place in the literary Middle-earth, meaning that the game’s storyline will likely stay closer to Tolkien’s plot in the book, compared to the plots of the Lord of the Rings movies. Bam Margera Says He Was “Much Better Off” After Being Fired from Jackass Forever
After completing a one-year substance abuse program in May, Bam Margera has unfortunately been in and out of court-mandated rehab. At some point, however, he was able to appear on Steve-O’s podcast to discuss his battles with addiction and dismissal from Jackass Forever. Though the episode was just released last week, Steve-O explained in the introduction that it was actually recorded “a while back.” Based on the recency of Margera’s skateboarding injury in the video, the sitdown appears to have taken place a week or so after he passed the one-year mark in late May. John Wick Spinoff Series The Continental Moves to Peacock in Multi-Year Deal
Action junkies are in luck today, because Peacock has announced a multi-year deal for The Continental, a highly anticipated three-part special event based on the blockbuster John Wick films. Premiering in 2023, the limited series will explore the origin story of the Continental Hotel, a refuge and meeting ground for hit men and assassins. Set in 1975 New York, The Continental is told from the point of view of a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell), who we know eventually becomes the hotel’s manager. The series will focus on Winston’s dangerous quest to seize control of the hotel, which serves as a rendezvous point for some of the world’s deadliest criminals. Kenya Barris to Write and Direct Wizard of Oz Remake
Warner Bros. has brought on black-ish creator Kenya Barris for the studio’s remake of The Wizard of Oz, reports Deadline. Barris will write and direct the “modern reimagining” of the beloved 1939 musical film, but is apparently keeping any further details under wraps. He will also be producing under his Khalabo Ink Society banner. In what’s sure to be a confusing situation for everyone not involved, New Line Cinema previously announced its own “fresh take” on Wizard of Oz in February 2021 with Nicole Kassell (HBO’s Watchmen) helming the film. Snoop Dogg Launches Breakfast Cereal for All Your Wake-and-Bake Mornings
Breakfast is served at the dog pound: Snoop Dogg has unveiled his very own breakfast cereal, named — what else? — Snoop Loopz. The circular cereal is billed as an alternative to Froot Loopz, with “more corn, more flavor, and more marshmallows,” per Master P, who shared the news via his socials this week. Snoop Loopz will be distributed in grocery stores by Snoop’s own company Broadus Foods, which already boasts a range of “Mama Snoop’s” breakfast products.
