Beatport has announced the headlining speaker lineup for the company’s inaugural ReConnect summit, set to take place in New York on September 21st and 22nd.  Dance music stalwarts and PIXELYNX founders deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin are slated to speak about their experience in the Web3 space and provide insights on metaverse music experiences in the years to come. Representatives from Meta, Red Light Management, Disruptor Records, the Association for Electronic Music and more will lead discussions on timely topics like diversity and inclusion, wellness and branding among others. Showtime Acquires Doc Based on Rock Book ‘Meet Me in the Bathroom’

Former SPIN intern Lizzy Goodman’s 2017 chronicle of the 2000s-era New York rock scene, Meet Me in the Bathroom, is headed to Showtime in the form of a Pulse Films documentary directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern. Travis Scott Teases New Music, Possibly Putting Final Touches on ‘Utopia’ LP

Travis Scott has been gradually making his return to music following the Astroworld tragedies. At the beginning of this month, the rapper announced a Las Vegas residency at Resorts World’s Zouk Nightclub taking place this fall, an experience called Road to Utopia. Megan Thee Stallion confirmed that she had finished recording her sophomore album late last month. Now, the Houston rapper is offering fans a preview of what they can expect on the new record, entitled Traumazine. Set to a simple piano track, the 20-second clip shows Megan wearing a black veil as she slowly approaches a casket, surrounded by ominous onlookers. Once she approaches, she places a single black rose on the coffin. The video cuts to a woman walking away from the casket as it pours around her. It’s unclear if the mystery woman is Megan, as she wears a giant white hat that obscures her face. The clip fades to reveal the album title, Traumazine. Bright Eyes has revealed details for its next batch of Companions catalog reissues, which will arrive Nov. 11 on Dead Oceans. The Companions editions of albums Lifted or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground, I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn all include EPs with six new recordings featuring guest performances by Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, Becky Stark and Maria Taylor. Lifted includes a cover of “November” by Azure Ray, I’m Wide Awake boasts a version of “Fare Thee Well, Miss Carousel” by Townes Van Zandt and Digital Ash is appended with a take on “Agenda Suicide” by fellow Nebraska band The Faint.
