Netflix Sues The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical Creators for Copyright Infringement

A scandal worthy of Lady Whistledown’s poisoned pen. On Friday, Netflix filed a lawsuit against the creators of The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical for copyright infringement. In the court papers, which were filed in a Washington DC District Court, the streamer alleges duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear “have taken valuable intellectual property from the Netflix original series Bridgerton to build an international brand for themselves.” “Bridgerton reflects the creative work and hard-earned success of hundreds of artists and Netflix employees,” the court filing reads. “Netflix owns the exclusive right to create Bridgerton songs, musicals, or any other derivative works based on Bridgerton. Barlow & Bear cannot take that right — made valuable by others’ hard work — for themse...

Hooping With Perry Farrell

“I used to play high school basketball,” Perry Farrell says, serving as a message and warning statement, but not in the Al Bundy sense. Standing in the Lollapalooza press area mid-Friday afternoon, the Jane’s Addiction/Porno for Pyros singer (and Lollapalooza co-founder) has his eyes on one thing: a basketball version of Connect 4. His warning is well-taken — after all, he bested Post Malone in a game of beer pong at a Lollapalooza in South America back in 2019. Basketball and Lollapalooza may seem like an odd pairing, but Farrell said that legendary rock promoter Bill Graham kept a basketball hoop at Shoreline Amphitheater in Northern California, a reason why it was a favored destination during the festival’s touring years. Ne-Yo Asks for Privacy Amid Cheating Accusations From Wife

Tom Scharpling Hosted a 24-Hour Best Show With Dozens of Guests. How’s He Doing Now?

Not only did Cocker sit down for a phone interview where he discussed his new book and the state of the Pulp reunion, but he also repeatedly told Scharpling—who has long publicly spoken about his love for Pulp—that he’d been reading It Never Ends. “I couldn’t believe it was happening. That was a foundation rattling moment,” Scharpling said. “It was almost like some lifetime fantasy camp thing where I’m getting to do all these things that I should never get to do, and I got to do all of it. And there were 20 more things like that.” By the time he was on the phone with Cocker, Scharpling described himself as “pretty wobbly.” That was evident in his 7 a.m. phone conversation with John Oliver, who teased Scharpling extensively for sounding palpably tired and having basic sentence structures fa...

Durk shared a photo of himself on Instagram showing that his eye was bandaged. Right after Durk walks into the explosion, he abruptly stops rapping and uses his shirt to try to wipe his eyes. “Whoa,” his DJ can be heard saying. “You alright bro?” “Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” he wrote. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.” Pitchfork has reached out to Lollapalooza for comment. Durk is currently scheduled to perform later this month, with more dates set for September and October. Lollapalooza co...

Lil Durk Hospitalized After Being Struck in the Face by Pyrotechnic at Lollapalooza

A major accident befell Lil Durk during his Lollapalooza set on Saturday, July 30th when an onstage pyrotechnic blew up in his face. In fan-captured video of the performance, the “What Happened to Virgil” rapper can be seen covering his face with his T-shirt after walking through the blast, but ended up finishing his full set after taking a moment to reorient himself. (During the performance, Lil Durk also had what appears to be milk inexplicably thrown at him from the crowd.) However, he revealed on Instagram later in the day that he actually went to the hospital upon leaving the festival, posting a selfie with a mask on and his eye covered in a giant bandage. “Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health.
