Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman’s long search came to an end Friday (July 1) when he was reunited in Tokyo with a cherished guitar 45 years after it was stolen from a Toronto hotel. “My girlfriend is right there,” said Bachman, 78, a former member of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, as the Gretsch guitar on which he wrote “American Woman” and other hits was handed to him by a Japanese musician who had bought it at a Tokyo store in 2014 without knowing its history. He worked at multiple jobs to save money to buy the $400 guitar, his first purchase of an expensive instrument, he said....
Halsey revealed that they’ve suffered three miscarriages in the past, one of which required a medically necessary abortion so that the singer didn’t “risk going into sepsis.” In a personal response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade penned for Vogue, Halsey shared details about their experience with abortion, and whether eventually giving birth to a child changed her opinion on the right to abortion. The essay was published on Friday (July 1). Last September, everything seemed to be going somewhat well (at least compared to now). One of the best things to happen was that after years of squabbling, The Fugees were finally putting their differences aside not just for a one-off, but for an entire tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Score. The trio even played a show in New York (where they showed up three hours late, but hey, who is counting?)! We had our doubts that the good times were gonna keep going, but the Fugees’ first show since 2005 was great and made our list of the best shows of 2021. However, since we can’t have good things, the Fugees reunion tour disintegrated in January with a ho-hum announcement blaming it on COVID cases spiking (though it’s been reported that ticket sales weren’t so hot). So, they went b...
R Kelly is suing MDC Brooklyn – the detention center in which he’s currently being held — after being placed on suicide watch. The disgraced R&B singer says he has been subjected to harmful and punitive suicide watch conditions since being sentenced on June 29th to 30 years in federal prison for federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The lawsuit claims that Kelly was placed under suicide watch despite having no thoughts of suicide or self-harm in order to punish him for his celebrity status. The filing also claims that Kelly is made to wear a paper-like smock and denied utensils to eat, and compares his incarceration to that of convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell. Country pop singer Lindsay Ell performed at Fox & Friends’ All-American Summer Concert Series on Friday, and in a pre-show interview, the artist dove into a talking point not normally championed on the conservative network: women’s rights. In an all-around awkward conversation, Ell was chatting with Fox & Friends hosts Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy, and Rachel Campos-Duffy when Campos-Duffy first asked the Canadian singer about Shania Twain, a country pop trailblazer and fellow Canuck (The irony of inviting a Canadian singer to an “All-American” concert series is not lost on us). After Ell praised Twain’s ability to be “feminine and sexy and strong at the same time,” Campos-Duffy, grasping at straws in an attempt to be transphobic, went on to reference Twain’s hit “Man! I Feel Like a...

UPDATED: This is the story of a mystery. Unlike a good Agatha Christie page-turner, it’s not that dramatic. But it is a sad one — though maybe, just maybe, the ending hasn’t been written yet. Thirty years ago, one of the greatest sports movies ever made was released in theaters. Based on the true story of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, founded during World War II when most able-bodied men (including ball players) were fighting overseas, A League of Their Own featured two fictional sisters (Geena Davis and Lori Petty) battling over their own issues during the inaugural season of women’s professional baseball. The film became a modern classic for so many reasons: the powerful direction by Penny Marshall, an all-star cast that also includes Tom Hanks, Rosie O’Donnell, Ma...
Our Origins feature series provides artists with a space to run through everything that went into their latest project. Today, RAYE shares insight into her powerful new single, “Hard Out Here.” To return with a new single that’s at once inspirational, orchestral, catchy, brutally honest, and uplifting isn’t an easy feat — but RAYE makes it seem so with her new track, “Hard Out Here,” out Friday, July 1st.
