Beyoncé is set to reveal her new single, “Break My Soul,” at midnight ET on Tuesday (June 21st). It presumably serves as the first taste of Queen Bey’s seventh solo album, Renaissance, which is due out on July 29th. As she did in announcing Renaissance last week, Beyoncé clued fans in on the impending arrival of “Break My Soul” by simply updating her Instagram bio. It currently reads: “6.ㅤ ㅤ BREAK MY SOUL ㅤ midnight ET.” (One would assume that the No. 6 is the song’s position on the album’s tracklist.) Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh solo album to date and first since 2016’s earth-shattering Lemonade — which Consequence later name as the best album of the 2010s. In 2018, Beyoncé and JAY-Z released their collaborative album, Everything Is Love, which Queen Bey followed up in 2019 with The ...

Good times never seemed so good at Fenway Park Saturday (June 18th), when Neil Diamond made a rare live appearance to sing his 1969 hit “Sweet Caroline” in person. The musician went out to the ball game to promote the long-delayed opening of his new musical Neil Diamond: A Beautiful Noise, joined in the stands by the play’s star Will Swenson. “Sweet Caroline” has been an 8th inning staple at Sox games since the tradition began 25 years ago, and Diamond has even come to Fenway to sing it himself twice before — once in 2010 and again in 2013. But this most recent cameo marked an especially momentous occasion, as the soft-rocker retired from touring in 2018 due to a Parkinson’s diagnosis. Even with the Sox down 10-2 against the St. Louis Cardinals, Fenway was overflowing with fans e...

It was a Tuesday night in London when Richard James Burgess found himself on the doorstep of Blitz for the very first time. He was dressed in ripped jeans and a t-shirt, surrounded by people with “amazing clothes and amazing hair.” Unbeknownst to Burgess at the time, that door was, in reality, a gateway that would ultimately lead him to coin the term “electronic dance music” in 1980. It landed him at the forefront of a sonic revolution—one marked by experimentation and a desire to “electrify” the acoustic instruments of the heyday. And it all started out with a drum set and a dream. Richard James Burgess is now the President and CEO of The American Association of Independent Music. c/o American Association of Independent Music Born in London and raised in New Zealand, Burgess was drawn to ...

Beyoncé is releasing the new song “Break My Soul” at midnight Eastern. She made the announcement by changing the bios on her social media pages to read: “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET.” It’ll mark the first single from her new album Renaissance, which is out July 29. “Break My Soul,” released on the summer solstice, marks the start of a new season, Pitchfork has learned.
