Mariah Carey Sued for $20 Million Over “All I Want for Christmas Is You”
Mariah Carey is being sued for upwards of $20 million in damages over her massive holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” as NBC News and TMZ report. According to the complaint, New Orleans songwriter Andy Stone alleged that he co-wrote a song with the same title five years prior to Carey’s release. Stone’s song was recorded by his country-pop band Vince Vance & the Valiants and released in 1989. Carey’s single was issued on her 1994 Merry Christmas LP. Carey is being sued for copyright infringement and misappropriation; she’s named alongside her co-writer Walter Afanasieff and Sony Music Entertainment. Trouble Killed in Atlanta Shooting
It has been reported that the Atlanta rapper Trouble aka “Skoob” has been killed over the weekend. At just 34 years old, Trouble, real name Mariel Semonte Orr, was shot in the chest while visiting a female friend at the Lake St. James Apartment complex in Conyers at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday. Def Jam has already confirmed the untimely death on Instagram with: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble. R.I.P. Alec John Such, Original Bon Jovi Bassist Dead at 70
Alec John Such, the original bassist of Bon Jovi, has died at the age of 70. “We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” the band posted in a statement to social media on Sunday, June 5th. “He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him — He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres] and brought Richie [Sambora] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We will miss him dearly.” A cause of death was not immediately disclosed. CMA Festival Bans Confederate Flag Imagery “of Any Kind”
No “Southern pride” or sedition here. The CMA Festival has announced that Confederate flags will officially be banned from the annual event, which is scheduled to take place in Nashville next week. The new rule is noted by event organizers on the festival’s official website, with “Confederate flag imagery of any kind” listed among other objects prohibited on festival grounds including bikes, drones, fireworks, and drug paraphernalia.
