By this point, John Lydon’s status as a one-time punk pioneer has been overshadowed by a series of right-leaning political faux pas. But perhaps unsurprisingly, the man once known as Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten has now gone so far as to retract the message of his band’s debut single “Anarchy in the U.K.,” saying that he isn’t an anarchist at all. “Anarchy is a terrible idea,” Lydon wrote in a new essay for The Times. “Let’s get that clear. Growing up a half-mile over the Maryland border, rapper IDK became childhood friends with a boy from the projects, and as his rap career opened up a world of new possibilities to him, he also sought to open doors for his friend. The Weeknd has partnered with cryptocurrency exchange Binance to produce the first-ever global tour to integrate Web3 technology, dubbed the After Hours Til Dawn Tour. As the official sponsor of the tour, which kicks off in July, Binance has collaborated with creative incubator HXOUSE on an exclusive NFT collection and co-branded merchandise for The Weeknd’s shows.
