Don McLean Cancels NRA Convention Performance Following Uvalde School Shooting
Don McLean, the musician behind the 1971 hit “American Pie,” has resigned from performing at the National Rifle Association’s national convention this weekend, following Tuesday’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. “In light of the recent events in Texas, I have decided it would be disrespectful and hurtful for me to perform for the NRA at their convention in Houston this week,” McLean said in a statement issued to TMZ. “I’m sure all the folks planning to attend this event are shocked and sickened by these events as well. After all, we are all Americans. “Weird Al” Yankovic has teamed up with Z2 Comics for the release of a new graphic novel. The Illustrated Al: The Songs of “Weird Al” Yankovic was penned by Yankovic, and features illustrated interpretations of over 20 of his songs. Artist include Bill Plympton, Aaron Augenblick, Peter Bagge, Wes Hargis, Jeff McClelland, and more. The book also features an introduction from comic Emo Philips, who is opening for Yankovic on his 133-date North American tour. The graphic novel will be released later this year. Yoshihiro Togashi Says He Is Working on New Chapters of Manga ‘Hunter x Hunter’
Four years after releasing its last chapter, Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of the manga Hunter x Hunter, has announced that he’s once again working on the series. Published in the manga anthology Weekly Shōnen Jump beginning in 1998, the series follows a boy named Gon Freecss, who becomes a Hunter in order to track down his missing father. Along the way, he must defeat fantastical creatures and specially-abled humans. When the manga was last published in 2018, Togashi was on chapter 390 and reportedly went on hiatus due to struggles with chronic pain. Sky Ferreira Releases First New Song in 3 Years
Sky Ferreira announced last week that she was going to release her first song since 2019’s “Downhill Lullaby.” Today, it happened. Titled “Don’t Forget,” the song is a glimpse into her long-awaited second album, Masochism, which has been in the works since 2015.
