Celebrate World Meditation Day with Eric Sharp’s Exclusive EDM.com Playlist

Balance isn’t something you find; it’s something you create.  In honor of World Meditation Day, we’re reflecting on different ways the electronic dance music scene can adopt healthier habits. While loads of fun, our industry generally isn’t the healthiest. Ask any touring artist and most will tell you that all of the late nights, extensive travel, sleep deprivation, and partying can do a number on one’s mental and physical wellbeing. From the outside looking in, it may seem as if the EDM world is run by revelers. This, however, is not always the case. There are a number of dance music artists who live very mindful and healthy lifestyles, even while on the road and in the thick of the nightlife. One such artist is the house maestro, Eric Sharp. Having channeled his sober, he...

Aitch Announces Debut Album ‘Close To Home’, Drops New Single “1989”

Manchester’s Aitch can’t stop winning. Following the release of the Ashanti-sampled summer smash “Baby” – and then a much-welcomed link-up with UK rap OG Giggs for “Just Coz” – the 0161 native keeps proving why he’s one of the country’s leading rhymers, despite his age. Now Aitch is back with a new single, this time sampling the timeless hook from The Stone Roses record “Fools Gold” for “1989.” Making the release strictly a Manchester affair, the merging of eras from the rainy city has been bridged through Aitch’s cut-throat rapping ability, full of references to his extravagant lifestyle and his newfound responsibility for repping Manchester to the fullest. Keeping the Kelvin Jones-directed visuals close to home, we see Aitch (and friends) causing mischief on the local estate wi...

Inside Track: Creator Power, Spatial Audio & the Metaverse Dominate Music Biz 2022

For the first time since the onset of the pandemic, the Music Biz conference happened in person in Nashville this month, bringing together industry figures from across the globe to banter about the various topics facing the business after two years of relying on tech and streaming to connect an increasingly-fractured landscape. One conversation that seemed to permeate both panels and interpersonal conversations at the convention was the expanding role of artists in their own marketing and release strategy, whether they are signed to a major or not. During panels like “The Future of the Artist Deal” and “Navigating New Strategies,” speakers waxed near-philosophical on the improved standing of artists in advocating on their own behalf, while also examining the pitfalls that come from this mo...

Harry Styles Performs ‘Harry’s House’ In Its Entirety at ‘One Night Only in NY’ Show

In 2022, it’s very rare to find a room of nearly 20,000 people, the majority of whom are teenage girls, belting along to Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody” word for word. But upon hearing the 1975 classic’s opening vocal harmonies, the entire audience at Harry Styles‘ “One Night Only in NY” show at Belmont Park’s UBS Arena on Friday night (May 20) broke out into song and squeals, because they all knew that it’s the song the 28-year-old superstar plays in the venue before he steps onstage. Deftones’ Stephen Carpenter Is “Not Ready to Leave the Country Yet,” Will Sit Out European Tour

Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter has elected to sit out the band’s upcoming UK and European tour dates, saying he’s “not ready” to leave the United States yet. Carpenter posted a video statement on Deftones’ Twitter, explaining that he made his decision based on “everything going on in the world.” It’s worth noting that Carpenter expressed staunch anti-vax sentiments in the past, and would likely have a difficult time traversing European countries is he’s indeed unvaccinated against COVID-19. Carpenter’s full video statement reads as follows: “Hey, everyone, it’s Steph. As much as I would love to be on the road with my brothers right now, playing for all of our incredible international fans, I have chosen to remain playing domestically for now. With everything going on in the world, I’...
