It’s been six decades since Marilyn Monroe last graced the silver screen, but her legacy is still felt today. This past year has been particularly dedicated to the icon, with Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn’s exact dress to the Met Gala, and the much-anticipated biographical film Blonde premiering at the Venice Film Festival recently. The film, that is based upon bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, will be released on the 28th of September on Netflix and explores the split between Marilyn’s public and private lives. After Blonde received a 14-minute long standing ovation in Venice, it was clear that Marilyn would once again be trending, and while looking through some of her best outfits, I found that these four still feel fresh today. I cannot tell you the number of nail designs I have pinned and saved to my camera roll. Striking bright geometric shapes, simple clean girl nails and of course glazed doughnut looks are all stashed and ready for upcoming nail appointments. And one nail trend I have found myself gravitating towards more is butterfly nail designs. If you thought this was merely a spring thing, think again. Butterfly-inspired nail art can be multi-season appropriate from glittery designs for the festive season to a touch of orange-y browns for autumn. While I rarely get full-blown nail designs, I love how delicate butterfly nail art can be with fine line intricate artwork. But it can err on the bolder or more abstract side of the spectrum too, with opaque nail tip designs inspired by the shapes of b...
It was only yesterday (literally, yesterday!) that we were extolling the excellence of Katie Holmes’s autumn wardrobe. She is a woman who prioritises comfort but always manages to combine it with a dash of cool—a well chosen shoe here, a unique jumper there. In fact, her work towards the promotion of the global knitwear trade should be commended. Especially considering that when she first kickstarted the bra-digan trend with a double camel cashmere number from Khaite it was 2019 and the look is still at every store today at a variety of price points over three years later. Now that’s influence. Her recent ensemble for a Chanel event in New York City is yet another shining example of her autumn outfit-building prowess, and everyone in the team at Wh...
As a luxury makeup lover, it might surprise you to learn that I almost exclusively use mascaras that cost about a tenner. The reason being, I simply have never found a luxury mascara that can compete with my affordable favourites on results. I like my lashes to look long, full, hold a curl, and most importantly, still look like my lashes. I don’t want clumps, I don’t want smudging, and I certainly don’t want them to appear unnatural. It just so happens that my trusty affordable mascaras (Maybelline Sky High and L’Oréal Paris Lash Paradise are favourites) do that for me better than any others. Except that is, for one luxury brand. You see, I have adored Chanel mascaras since I first tried one at aged 16 for my school prom....

When it comes to high-street brands, editors, influencers and celebrities will agree on one thing: no one can resist the allure of Zara. Over the last decade, the Spanish titan has truly taken the fashion world by storm, serving us up everything from incredible collabs—this summer alone we’ve seen collections from Kate Moss and Narciso Rodriguez—to timeless basics and cult buys as well as a mass of amazing accessories, proving it’s a one stop shop for everything the fashion set could ever need. For me, there is one thing that Zara does particularly well, and that’s outerwear. Providing us with a mixture of style, fabric, colour and fit, each season the brand ensures there’s something for everyone in their large and varied coat collection. As a self-confessed coat obsessive, as w...
Ahead of the world premiere of her new film Amsterdam, Barbie actress Margot Robbie took an opportunity to play tricks with our minds when she wore a charcoal three-piece suit in NYC that looked to be Prada but is actually entirely from Mango. Adding to our initial suspicion, Robbie accessorized with point-toe pumps from the Italian label, as well as its now-iconic Cleo bag, both in black. In turn, she created the perfect brand-blurring combo. It’s not that wild that we’d mix up the two at first, given that her waistcoat, blazer, and split-hem trousers are from Mango’s new Selection line, which is made with only premium materials and is noticeably more elevated than its standard offering. In fact, fellow actress and street-style star Kat...
Fashion influencer Melissa Meyers has an inspiring sartorial point of view. She has a sense of what pieces can potentially help build a solid wardrobe. She actually recently shared the eight-piece early fall wardrobe that she really thinks could work for everyone because the pieces are versatile and lean into that modern-yet-classic territory. Autumn can be a sartorial challenge, even for the most confident of dressers. The shift in temperatures proves to be the biggest hitch as, after months of giving little thought to whether your ensembles will be warm enough, this swiftly becomes your primary concern. And, let’s face it, it can be difficult to feel chic when you’re laden down in knitwear and wool. Difficult, but certainly not impossible. Some of our favourite celebrities are taking autumn in stride, flaunting their brilliant cold-weather-ready looks on Instagram for all to see. Sporting gorgeous coats, the sleekest of boots, elevated knitwear, cosy co-ords and luxe bags, these A-listers prove that looking slick and being appropriately dressed for the season ahead can go hand in hand. Welcome to The Great Try-On. With autumn well and truly in the air, we seized the opportunity to try on some of the best new-in pieces from some of your favourite brands, documenting the process along the way. We believe that the best way to shop online is to see an item IRL and to read candid reviews, so we hope that this leads you to your most successful purchases of the year. As anyone who knows me knows, I’m a high-street devotee. I’m the rare kind of person who actually enjoys shopping (yes, we exist), and I’m happy to while away the hours browsing around the shops to find the best hidden gems. There’s one place, in particular, that I can always rely on for premium pieces at an affordable price, and that’s COS. Always striking the right balance ...
