The runway is one thing, but what of real life? Well, there’s no shortage of pictorial evidence that big neck candy is back on the radar, with countless influencers putting their simple initial pendants to one side in favour of blown-up, beautiful adornments. I like to wear mine for Zoom calls, as they distract other attendees from the fact I’ve worn the same jumper for five consecutive days. But hey, maybe that’s just me? Of course, you can pair yours with any of the aforementioned suggestions, but might I also highlight how great they look with tube dresses, linen shirts, off-the-shoulder necklines, basic vests… Need I go on? Have I convinced you that chunky necklaces are once again a thing? Good, as I’ve found the chicest pieces on the market. Scroll o...
How do you find wearing costumes. Is that important to you when you’re acting? I really enjoy that side—I definitely think the costume is one of the most important things for me when I’m acting because it just transforms you to that place straightaway. If I’m not feeling it or I’m finding it hard to access that world, the second you put in a corset or wig, you know that you’re there. So it’s so, so, so important. And I think as well, you get to dress up every day, but then if you’ve got a premiere or something, then you get to dress up and go really glam, which is really exciting and a way that you wouldn’t usually dress. It can be frustrating, though. You know, if you were just going to a friend’s party, maybe you wear something t...
Is there anything better than a classic autumn look? I think not. But the latest Morris & Co. x PAIGE collaboration is stepping these staple looks up a notch with one-of-a-kind designs and patterns. Founded in 1861, Morris & Co. is an iconic British interiors brand specializing in whimsical hand-drawn prints that work beautifully in the home and now, in fashion. These British patterns paired with classic California silhouettes are the unexpected sources of inspiration behind the following five outfits. I included the sheer button-down I want to wear for every night out and a purple suit set that is bringing some serious edge to autumn’s otherwise basic apparel. In addition, you’ll see PAIGE’s must-have footwear and eco-friendly eyewear to complete every ...
I have to admit I used to think wide-leg trousers were a difficult trend to wear, especially since I’m only 5’2”, but H&M’s styles completely changed my opinion. Although they give that smart, tailored look, they were all surprisingly comfortable. They’ve become my go to for office days, but I’ve also taken to wearing them while working from home so I can still feel a bit polished. Undeniably wide-legs are a new staple in my wardrobe (sorry, jeans), especially since they’re surprisingly versatile when it comes to shoe pairings too—they work with trainers, boots, loafers and even chunky sandals as we see this summer out. Below, you’ll find my verdict on the 5 best new-in pairs I tried recently, as well as links to more of H&M’s c...
Sightings of Kate Moss may be few and far between, but lucky for us she’s stepped out just in time to inspire our autumn wardrobes with three easy dress-and-shoe formulas. For the launch of her new beauty and wellness brand, Kate started the day in a soft pink maxi dress and black boots to channel her bohemian style. Later, for launch dinner she changed into a sheer floral dress and strappy heels that I plan to recreate for all my autumn dinner plans (although slightly more opaque). Finally, while attending the launch of Edward Enniful’s memoir Kate showed her eye for print mixing with a striped sequin and snake boot combo. Keep scrolling to recreate Kate’s three dress looks. As a new season rolls around and we pore over the runway shows in search of inspiration for the months ahead, one thing we can always count on is the emergence of a new print trend. The A/W 22 shows treated us to a host of new colours, textures and key pieces to love, but one of the most exciting things to come out of the collections was a print you’re likely to already have in your wardrobe: stripes. From the Breton top to crochet, pinstriped blazers to rugby shirts, stripes are as much a part of our everyday as the plain white tee, and even if you hadn’t realised it (go ahead, quickly check your wardrobe), there will be some subtly sitting at the back of your closet, more than likely relegated to the lower ranks as the humble print can sometimes feel...
Of course, real leather is inherently a more premium fabric that comes with a matching price tag, so luxury pieces from designer labels can often start around the £700 mark. But on the great British high street, you can still find some beautiful, top-quality (and even responsible) pieces from £100 and up. So, where’s doing it best this season? Well, let’s start with Mango, who without question have the most premium-looking leather edit on the high street right now, including some pieces using material approved by the Leather Working Group. From that timeless trench to the perfect trousers, my fellow editors and I haven’t been able to stop talking about our favourite pieces from the collection. M&S and Arket, known for doing the classics so well, neve...
I’m calling it: 2022 is the year of the manicure. After seeing Hailey Bieber’s glossy glazed donut nails go totally viral (it’s still a struggle to find the products in stock to create this look) and the sheer amount of cool nail art designs we’ve seen lately, it’s safe to say that we’ve never had so much inspiration at our fingertips. And we’re here for it. And who doesn’t love a trip to the salon or a DIY manicure at home? However, with the mega trends of the seasons also comes the micro nail trends. They’re the lesser-known nail trends that you might not see blowing up on your Instagram feed. But, you might spot them on the fingertips of the fashion set and in-the-know beauty insiders. Whether it’s the go-to...
The runway is one thing, but what of real life? Well, there’s no shortage of pictorial evidence that big neck candy is back on the radar, with countless influencers putting their simple initial pendants to one since in favour of blown-up, beautiful adornments instead. Personally, I like to wear mine for Zoom calls, as they distract other attendees from the fact I’ve worn the same jumper for five consecutive days in a row. Good, as I’ve found the chicest...
Choosing a coat is hard. From late August, when the sun is still shining, new-season styles start hitting stores, and suddenly, even if you thought you knew what your wardrobe was missing, you can be all too easily overwhelmed with choice. From relaxed wool styles and traditional trench coats to smart tailored versions and more maximalist bright faux-fur numbers, there’s a lot to decide between. If, however, you’re after something unique, something that says you know fashion, something so timeless it will truly last forever (and probably become one of those pieces your children think you’re really cool for owning), may I point you in the direction of Mango’s beautiful new leather coat. Yes, it’s high-street(!), so although this real leather piece is still an inves...
A few years ago, I had my “colours done,” which involved various fabric swatches draped around my neck to show how they worked (or didn’t work) with my skin tone. I very much believe that if you like a colour, you should wear it, as there are really no rules in fashion—at least none that I encourage. Still, if you’re faced with a piece you love in various colours, where do you begin? It’s easy to stick to reliable base colours of black, white and grey, but for those looking to add more colour to their wardrobe, there’s one hue out there that suits all skin tones, and Meghan Markle has proven just how brilliant this colour is: primary red. Every few months, we get a sighting of Meghan Markle and are reminded of just how stylish she is...
Of all the questions that I’m asked as a beauty editor, how to actually get rid of dark circles has to be up there as one of the most widespread enquiries. Dark circles are all-inclusive when it comes to who they target, from my teenage sister whose laid-back approach to studying often results in all-nighters spent at the library to my friend who has forgotten what sleep is since becoming a mum of three. Luckily, there are things that you can do to combat dark under-eye circles if they are bothering you—and one of the simplest places to start is with a decent eye cream.
