Chance the Rapper Says Video of Kanye West Screaming at Him Made Him “Evaluate” Their Friendship

Chance the Rapper recently discussed the video that showed the artist formerly known as Kanye West going off on him in the studio, stating that he put a lot of thought into their relationship after.

Speaking on The Morning Hustle, the artist reminded listeners that the clip is “of a larger moment” and that nobody will ever get the full story. “People do take it and run with it, because I saw some people put, like, fake captions under the video to make it look like he was talking about my music or something like that, but in all honesty, it’s like, you know, this is real life. Like, I have real friends and they go through real problems,” Chano explained.

He further shared that he felt as if the public “exploited a moment” that was genuine, “I try and be my most real self, you know, and the way I talk to people as if they’re my friend and as if they’re anything other than that.” Chance added, “I did come out there to check on my friend. Me and a lot of other people still have love for Ye, but he’s a human, he’s not perfect. He was obviously going through it at that time, and, you know, stuff happened.”

“It made me evaluate my friendship with him, for sure, because it was like I had never been so close to him going through an episode,” he continued. “I talked to him after he went through stuff before and obviously, like, he came to my wedding and this is somebody that I really, really love and talk to and stuff. But it did just make me realize that I got a whole life in Chicago, I got my own stuff that I gotta deal with too.”

Despite it all, Chano reaffirmed his admiration for Ye, “At the end of the day, I definitely love the dude. That’s my guy.”
