Depeche Mode To Release First Album in 5 Years ‘Memento Mori,’ Announce Global Tour

Depeche Mode has announced the long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s Spirit. The new record, Memento Mori, will be released through Columbia Records sometime next spring.

Memento Mori will mark the English electronic band’s first release since the death of founding member and keyboard player, Andy “Fletch” Fletcher, who passed away in May at the age of 60.

“We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time,” Martin Gore said. “After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning.”

Fletch would have loved this album. We’re really looking forward to sharing it with you soon, and we can’t wait to present it to you live at the shows next year,” Dave Gahan added.

In March 2023, Depeche Mode will embark on a North American tour for Memento Mori, beginning in Sacramento, California. The band will hit select cities across the United States and Canada before heading to Europe for a packed two months of performances. The tour will wrap up five months after its commencement on August 11 in Oslo, Norway.
