First Look at the Aston Martin DB12

First Look at the Aston Martin DB12

Aston Martin has officially unveiled its new DB12. Heralded as the first of its next generation of sportscars, the new DB assumes the title of the world’s first “Super Tourer.” The DB12 comes at a special time, amidst Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary and 75 years of the DB model line.

Its sleek chassis is matched with a class-leading 4.0 V8 Twin-Turbo engine from Mercedes-AMG. Said to be more powerful than DB11’s V12, the new V8 delivers 671 HP, allowing for top speeds of 202 mph and a reported 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.5 seconds.  Technical highlights include a new suspension system featuring intelligent dampers and ultra-stiff roll bars as well as Aston Martin bespoke 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires. Power is fed through an 8-speed automatic transmission, and for the first time, the new DB utilizes Electronic Rear Differential which is linked to the car’s Electronic Stability Control system. Unlike a Limited Slip Differential, it can go from 100% open to fully locked in milliseconds, offering the driver more precise handling.

Overall, the DB12 is designed with a bolder and more muscular stance to represent the power within. Exterior design highlights include an enlarged front grille and a re-shaped splitter with new LED headlights, the use of Aston Martin’s new wings badge for the first time, sleek flush door handles, and frameless wing mirrors.

“When a brand has as much history as Aston Martin it is important to honour the past,” Amedeo Felisa, Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, says of the new DB12. “Not by looking back, but by pushing on with the same energy and passion that propelled our founders 110-years ago. With the new DB12 we are reinvigorating the DB model line and reasserting Aston Martin as a maker of truly exceptional performance sportcars. By combining class-leading performance and exceptional chassis dynamics with cutting edge technology, impeccable craftsmanship and immaculate design, DB12 leads Aston Martin into a new era of excellence.”

Aston Martin will begin deliveries for the DB12 during Q3 of this year. Head over to Aston Martin’s website for more.
