Jim and Mike Ring, co-founders of Ringbrothers, work out of their Wisconsin workshop to build some of the world’s most impressive custom American muscle cars, often for high-flying clientele such as Future and Kevin Hart. Now, the brothers have unveiled their latest one-off, the 1969 Dodge Charger “CAPTIV.”

Sporting a fetching “Speed Violation Yellow” paint job inspired by Porsche’s “114 Signal Yellow”, 19″ and 20″ HRE rims, black and chrome accents, and a completely reupholstered interior, the “CAPTIV” goes to show how Ringbrothers can take a classic and turn it into a usable everyday restomod.

It packs a V8 Mopar Hellcat crate engine mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, sending 707 HP to the rear wheels which is managed thanks to a carbon fiber driveshaft and adjustable shocks, Baer six-piston brakes, and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires adding plenty of much-needed grip.

“This project has been years in the making,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “The project was started more than 8,000 miles from where it was finished with work being carried out on either side of the Pacific. Greg [Murphy, the owner] and his team did phenomenal work before it came here, and it was a joy to work on such an amazing build together.

“This marks the second time this car was built in America, first in Detroit in 1969 and now in Spring Green, Wisconsin in 2021,” Mike continued. “We couldn’t have pulled this off without the help of our partners at Motul, Holley, BASF, HRE Wheels, GFS, and so many more.”

“CAPTIV” also showcases some of the latest developments Ringbrothers is exploring, with the car sporting a 3D-printed horn button, carbon fiber hoops, and billet aluminum spokes and hub. Rounding out the design is a Flowmaster exhaust system — guaranteed to make quite the racket from that V8.

In other news, the Porsche 911 GT3 has been refined.
