Alanis Morissette Honors Former Touring Bandmate Taylor Hawkins in London: Watch

Prior to joining Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins was the drummer in Alanis Morissette’s touring band when she hit the road in support of her breakthrough album, Jagged Little Pill. During Morissette’s recent stop at London’s O2 Arena on her trek celebrating the 25th anniversary of the record, the singer paid tribute to Hawkins while performing “Ironic.” While Morissette ran through one of her biggest hits, footage of Hawkins both on stage and behind the scenes was shown on the giant screens behind her. After the song was finished, one of the screens simply displayed the words “In Memory of Taylor Hawkins.” Watch fan-shot footage below Hawkins manned the drums in Morissette’s band from 1995 to 1997 after playing gigs for another Canadian singer, Sass Jordan. Whenever he had the opportunit...

Gene Simmons: KISS to Add Another 100 Cities to Ongoing Farewell Tour

KISS’ ongoing farewell tour shows no signs of stopping. In fact, the band plans to add another 100 cities to the itinerary. Gene Simmons broke the news in a recent interview with Chaoszine. When asked when KISS would wrap up the tour and retire, Simmons couldn’t give a definite answer — only that it wouldn’t be anytime soon. “We don’t know,” he said. “We’ve never retired before. This is our first time. It’s like painting a painting or writing a book. When somebody says, ‘When is it gonna be finished?’ You’re in the middle of it; you don’t know.” Advertisement Related Video KISS had originally circled July 17th, 2021 as the date of their final concert — plans that were upheaved by the pandemic. After their itinerary was shifted around, Paul Stanley said that the farewell tour would lik...

Artist of the Month Momma Are a Household Name for the Coolest of Households

Artist of the Month is an accolade given to an up-and-coming artist or group who is poised for the big time. For July 2022, we’re celebrating Momma as they take a swing at fame with their new album Household Name. “I wanna be your next big thing.” So opens Household Name, the latest album from ‘90s revivalists and DIY champs Momma (out Friday, July 1st). And though they seem intimidatingly cool — like success in the music industry would be, like, totally whatever, man — the sentiment is far from ironic. Even if they don’t always take themselves too seriously, Momma is taking the namesake of their record very seriously. They’re going to be household names, or die trying. Inspired by endless label meetings headed nowhere, thousand-dollar-suit execs saying nothing, and a type of rock stardom ...

What We Do in the Shadows Glides By on Vampiric Charm in Its Fourth Season: Review

The Pitch: When we last left the Staten Island mansion of What We Do in the Shadows in Season 3, the house felt a little emptier — Nandor (Kayvan Novak) had just departed for his “Eat, Prey, Love” (sic) tour of self-discovery, and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) swanned off to England in a wooden crate to join the Worldwide Vampiric Council, with Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) in unwitting tow. Laszlo (Matt Berry), for his part, chose to stay behind, not least because the dead body of Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) gave way to a new, childlike form (also Proksch, pasty round adult features grinning eerily atop a child’s body), which he had to take care of. Cut to a year later, and all that potential energy is lost: All Nandor got from his tour was an erstwhile friendship with a nice family from ...

“Weird Al” Yankovic Covers “Peaches” with Chris Ballew of The Presidents of the USA: Watch

“Weird Al” Yankovic brought out The Presidents of the United States of America frontman Chris Ballew on Tuesday night at the Seattle stop for his ongoing 2022 tour to perform the hometown band’s breakout 1996 hit, “Peaches.” Yankovic kicked off the cover in earnest, taking on the country-tinged introduction and grunge-edged verses by himself before a familiar falsetto preceded Ballew’s stage entrance. The seated Yankovic feigned surprise as Ballew snuck behind him and tapped his shoulder, then the pair launched into the song’s “millions of peaches” sing-along refrain. They jumped together in time, swayed with their hands up, and even threw in some high-kick heroics to cap the performance. Watch Yankovic’s own captured footage release below. The show is part of Yankovic’s “The Unfortunate R...

R Kelly Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

R Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in the long-awaited conclusion of his federal sex trafficking case in New York. Last September, a jury found the disgraced singer guilty of all counts, which included one charge of racketeering related to the sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, and forced labor, as well as eight charges of violating the Mann Act, which outlaws the transportation of a person across state lines for illegal sexual activity. Addressing the court, Judge Ann M. Donnelly said of the long sentence, “I would have imposed [it] regardless of the guidelines.” According to The New York Times, she spent several minutes revisiting allegations leveled against Kelly, which saw nine women and two men testify that the singer had tormented them with sexual, p...

Danny Brown Accuses Die Antwoord Member Ninja of Sexual Assault

Danny Brown has accused Die Antwoord’s Ninja of sexually assaulting him at a party in Paris. During an appearance on comedian Tom Segura’s 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast, the Detroit rapper said the experience left him “shellshocked.” “Ninja tried to fuck me. I was scared,” Brown said during the sitdown. “They’ve been getting canceled a lot lately, been doing a lot of weird shit. But he always throw Yolandi on you. I think that’s how he’s been fucking n****s. Fuck them, though! Fuck them. I could’ve canceled cuz. Me too. I was sexually assaulted by Ninja. I stand by that. He know I ain’t lying.” The two met after Ninja allegedly sent a DM to Brown about attending his concert. “I’m like, ‘Man, you want me to put you on a list?’” Brown recalled. “[He’s like,] ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ll ...

Mattel Releases Second David Bowie Barbie for Hunky Dory 50th Anniversary

What’s better than one Barbie doll based off of David Bowie? Mattel have this week unveiled their second doll paying homage to the late great rocker and fashion icon, this time donning a baby blue suit à la his “Life on Mars?” music video. Complete with shaggy red hair, bold makeup, and platform oxfords, this Bowie Barbie celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1971 classic Hunky Dory. Back in 2019, Mattel — who are evidently big Bowie fans — commemorated the 50th anniversary of “Space Oddity” with a special edition Barbie dressed as the musician’s Ziggy Stardust character. Like Ziggy, the Hunky Dory Barbie can join your collection for $50. It’s on sale now over on Mattel’s website. “[We] wanted to make sure it looked like Barbie, but as Bowie,” Mattel design manager Linda Kyaw-Merscho...

Vancouver Radio Station Has Been Playing Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” Non-Stop for 18 Hours and Counting

Following the firing of several prominent on-air DJs, a Vancouver radio station has been playing Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” on a loop since 6:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday. According to the Vancouver Sun, “Killing in the Name” has been the only song heard on KiSS Radio since Wednesday morning. At various times, DJs have paused the song to take on-air requests. When one listener asked for a different song to be played, the DJ ignored it and resumed playing “Killing in the Name.” Other listeners called up and specifically asked for the RATM song to be played; the DJ apparently responded to one caller by saying, “Stick around – I don’t know when we’ll be able to play it but we will play it.” Representatives for KiSS Radio declined to comment on Wednesday’s on-air playl...
