Post Animal are back with another look at their upcoming album Love Gibberish. This time, they’ve shared the hair metal throwback “No More Sports.” Listen to the single below. Post Animal have never been shy about their classic rock influences, but “No More Sports” takes the ’80s theatrics to a whole new level with choppy guitar, spacey synthesizers, and lyrics like “Going 95 down the highway of burning desire.” Even better, the single comes with a kaleidoscopic, partially animated music video that looks like it was ripped directly from a Guitar Hero performance. The Chicago psych rockers explained the origins of “No More Sports” in a statement, calling it “an ode to early arena rock of the ’80s with a twist of ego death. All the bravado of a hair metal song with lyrics that examine s...
German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN will release the official music video for their new single, “Zick Zack”, tomorrow (Thursday, April 7) at 9:00 a.m. PDT / 12:00 noon EDT. A short teaser for the clip, which apparently takes on the world of cosmetic surgery, is available below. “Zick Zack” is taken from RAMMSTEIN‘s upcoming album, “Zeit”, which will arrive on April 29. Till Lindemann (vocals), Paul Landers (guitar), Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar), Flake (keyboards), Oliver Riedel (bass) and Christoph Schneider (drums) spent two years working on the eleven songs on the new album. They were once again assisted by Berlin producer Olsen Involtini. “Zeit” was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in St. Rémy de Provence, France. Bryan Adams managed ...

Michael Schenker, the German guitar virtuoso who made his recorded debut at age 16 on the SCORPIONS‘ “Lonesome Crow” album and rose to fame as the guitarist of the English hard rock band UFO, spoke to Canada’s The Metal Voice about how he was able to influence an entire generation of guitar players that would define 1980s heavy metal. When interviewer Jimmy Kay brought up the fact that several members of IRON MAIDEN have publicly acknowledged the inspiration they drew from his early recordings, Schenker replied (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Yeah, it’s all true. [MAIDEN bassist] Steve Harris is a complete Pete Way [late UFO bassist] fan. He even dresses like him. So does K.K. Downing from JUDAS PRIEST; [he] dresses like me. I went to the Whisky [...

Back in February, Cocteau Twins singer Elizabeth Fraser and her partner, Massive Attack drummer Damon Reece, announced a new project called Sun’s Signature. Now, ahead of their self-titled EP, the duo have shared the song “Golden Air.” Listen to the single below. Where Cocteau Twins’ textured music muddled Fraser’s famously ethereal voice, the singer beckons clearly in “Golden Air,” a sparse track that features syncopated percussion and vocalizations before exploding into a wall of synthesizers. The track comes with a visualizer that sees, naturally, golden sunlight reflect through nature. Like the four other Sun’s Signature songs, “Golden Air” has existed in some form or another for quite some time. Fraser shared “Underwater” on a limited single back in 2000, and the duo performed so...
The final season of Better Call Saul hasn’t even premiered yet, but AMC and Bob Odenkirk have already set their sights on the actor’s next project. Titled Straight Man, the series is being fast-track developed with a targeted premiere in 2023. Straight Man centers around the mid-life crisis of William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chairman of the English department at the badly underfunded Railton College in the Pennsylvania rust belt. Showrunners Aaron Zelman (Damages) and Paul Lieberstein (The Office) are adapting the series from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo’s novel of the same name, with Peter Farrelly attached to direct. Zelman and Lieberstein will also executive produce with Odenkirk, Farrelly, Russo, Naomi Odenkirk, and Marc Provissiero. ...
HIM mastermind Ville Valo will release a new solo single, “Loveletting”, under the VV moniker on Friday, April 8. It will mark Ville‘s first new music in over two years, following the arrival of the three-track “Gothica Fennica Vol. 1” EP, also released under the VV banner, in March 2020. “Gothica Fennica Vol. 1” bore a strong musical resemblance to HIM and featured the tracks “Salute The Sanguine”, “Run Away From The Sun” and “Saturnine Saturnalia”. HIM completed a farewell tour in 2017, closing the final chapter on the band’s 26-year career. At the time, Ville explained to Kerrang! magazine why the band decided to call it a day. “We were tired of the same shit,” he said. “When you’...

SLIPKNOT turntablist Sid Wilson spoke to the Herald-Whig about the progress of the recording sessions for the band’s upcoming follow-up to 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind” album. He said: “Yeah, as far as I know, all the members are finished recording parts, and it should be in the final stages. Actually, it’s been kind of tough, with the COVID restrictions and everything, trying to get the studio sessions done. So it’s taken a little bit longer than I think we would like, but, yeah, we managed to get it nailed down.” Regarding what fans can expect from the new SLIPKNOT material, Wilson said: “I don’t think everyone will ever be disappointed with what we do because we’re going to stay true to ourselves and do the music that we ...
