MAX CAVALERA Says New SOULFLY Album Will Feature Guest Appearance By ‘A Very Old-School Metalhead’

In a new interview with the “Rez Metal” podcast, SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera spoke about the band’s upcoming follow-up to 2018’s “Ritual” album, tentatively due in July. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m in a really good state of mind musically right now. I’m very inspired. I think in general the underground movement is really bursting right now with a lot of great bands. There’s a lot of really killer metal being done. And I’m really in contact and involved with a lot of these bands. And I think that kind of motivated me to work on this new SOULFLY record. “It was created a little bit different,” he continued. “The majority was just me and my son Zyon [Cavalera, SOULFLY drummer] playing ...

Flea’s Daughter Used His Grammy as a Garden Shovel

Flea’s daughter really digs his Grammy trophy — literally. As the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist noted in a new interview with KROQ in Los Angeles, he once lost his first-ever Grammy, only to discover months later that his first child Clara Balzary had been using it as a garden shovel. The anecdote came up as Flea attempted to explain how much — or how little — these accolades mean. “Put it this way, I’m grateful to win a Grammy, Grammys are awesome,” he said, “but after we won our first Grammy, like three years later, my mom said, ‘Michael, where’s your Grammy?’, and I was like, ‘I don’t know, mom, I put it somewhere.’” He continued, “Months after that, my gardener came out of the backyard in the garden and you know how the Grammy looks like an old record player with the horn on it? My da...

Harrison Ford Set for First-Ever Recurring TV Role in New Comedy from Ted Lasso Writers

Believe it or not, Harrison Ford is about to star in his first-ever recurring TV series role. The Indiana Jones icon will hit the small screen alongside Jason Segel in Shrinking, a forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy from a pair of Ted Lasso alums: co-creator Bill Lawrence and writer Brett Goldstein, who also stars as Roy Kent. Ford will play a down-to-earth therapist named Dr. Phil Rhodes, whose recent Parkinson’s diagnosis pushes him outside his comfort zone in terms of both his career and relationships. He shares a practice with his protégé Jimmy (Segel), who decides to abandon his previous training and ethics and tell his clients exactly what he thinks — for better or worse. Segal, Lawrence, and Goldstein will all write and serve as executive producers. Shri...

Jared Leto Made Morbius Crew Wait While Using Fake Crutches to Go to Bathroom

Jared Leto’s commitment to method acting has wreaked havoc on another movie set. In an interview with Uproxx, Morbius director Daniel Espinosa confirmed the actor was so determined to stay in character that he used his crutches to go to the bathroom, slowing down production so much that the crew instead opted to push him to the bathroom in a wheelchair. Leto’s character, known as the Living Vampire, suffers from a rare blood disease that affects his movement. In the interview, a tight-lipped Espinosa — who does his best to keep his head held high despite the film’s terrible reviews — defended Leto’s decision to use the crutches on set, arguing that it helped the actor really understand the pain his character lives with. “I think that what Jared thinks, what Jared believes, is tha...

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Completes Work On Ninth Studio Album

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has finished recording its ninth studio album. The Las Vegas-based metallers shared the news of the LP’s completion in a message accompanying the release of the lyric video for the song “Brighter Side Of Grey” from the band’s last album, 2020’s “F8”. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH said: “It’s hard to believe that our last record ‘F8’ came out over 2 years ago in the beginning of 2020, born into the whirlwind of events that dominated our lives and will echo into the rest of our history. Those of you intimately familiar with that album, now know how some of ‘F8’‘s dystopian lyrics became rather prophetic. “‘Brighter Side Of Grey’ was an important song on that record, but esp...

AFI’s DAVEY HAVOK Blasts Animal Experiments In New PETA Spot For ‘World Rat Day’

Before his voice fills stadiums during AFI‘s upcoming “Bodies” tour, Davey Havok is speaking out about the cruel forced swim test in a new PETA campaign video released on World Rat Day (April 4). With a rat named Wee Man perched on his shoulder, the singer explains how small animals are dropped into inescapable beakers of water where they swim desperately, trying not to drown in the “behavioral despair test” — which pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly have used to screen antidepressant drugs. “Is that depression that you’re measuring?” the musician asks in the video. “No. It’s fear. It’s trauma. It’s fight or flight. … Nothing is gained from that except their suffering. And no animals deserve that. No animals deser...

Netflix Makes “Short-Ass Movies” Section Following Pete Davidson SNL Sketch

Netflix isn’t big on fan service these days (A $16 standard plan? Charging a fee for sharing passwords?), but thanks to Pete Davidson, the streamer has done one thing right. After the comedian took to Saturday Night Live to bemoan the epic-length movies dominating the industry today, Netflix made Davidson’s dreams of a “Short-Ass Movies” section a reality. “These days, when I sit down to watch a movie, I can find just about anything in the world,” Davidson says to open his musical sketch. “But night after night, there’s only one kind of movie I’m always looking for, and that’s a short ass movie.” The comedian then goes into a rap with Chris Redd about how his short attention span requires a film that’s “like, at most, an hour-forty,” and even starts listing examples. Naturally, musica...
