Ministry, Melvins, and Corrosion of Conformity Bring a Legendary Lineup to New Jersey: Recap + Photos

Industrial icons Ministry rolled into the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey, on March 12th, bringing fellow legendary acts Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity with them. In addition to supporting their 2021 album, Moral Hygiene, Ministry are also celebrating the belated 30th anniversary of The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste. As such, frontman Al Jourgensen and company performed four songs off the 1989 album: “Breathe,” “Burning Inside,” “So What” and “Thieves.” The Ministry setlist also offered up a rare treat with a pair songs by Pailhead, Jourgensen’s ’80s side project with Ian MacKaye (Fugazi, Minor Threat), as well as a set-closing cover of the Iggy & The Stooges classic “Search and Destroy” (which appears on Moral Hygiene). For most of the set, Ministry performed b...

A Timeline of Kanye West’s One-Sided Beef with Pete Davidson

Breakups are hard, and it’s even harder to watch your ex happily move on and start seeing someone else. Such is the case for Kanye West, who’s had to spend the past few months watching his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, parading around with her new boyfriend, Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. Despite their 13-year age gap, Kardashian and Davidson appear to be genuinely enjoying their recent time together. Alongside Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, as well as Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian, Kim and Pete only serve as further proof that scrawny, tattooed men are the arm candy du jour for Hollywood’s conventionally attractive women. Kanye West Temporarily Suspended from Instagram for Harassment and Bullying

Kanye West has been temporarily suspended from Instagram for violating the platform’s policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying. According to a spokesperson for Instagram’s parent company Meta, West is unable to post, comment, or send direct messages on the platform for the next 24 hours. Over the last several weeks, West has repeatedly posted threats directed at Pete Davidson, who is currently dating West’s now ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. West has also lashed out at individuals who have questioned West’s motives and/or sided with Davidson — including Kardashian herself, comedian D.L. Hughley, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, and Davidson’s SNL castmate Michael Che. Jussie Smollett Released from Jail Pending Appeal

Less than a week after being sentenced to 150 days in jail for staging a hate crime and lying to police, a court ordered Jussie Smollett to be released from custody as his attorneys ready an appeal. On March 10th, a Chicago court sentenced Smollett to 150 days in jail and 30 months felony probation for falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack. He was also fined $25,000 and ordered to pay $120,106 in restitution. Today (March 16th), a court agreed to stay last week’s sentence, or put it on hold. The actor will be freed on bond pending an appeal. In 2019, Smollett told Chicago police that two men approached him on the street at 2:00 in the morning, attacking him with a rope and bleach and hurling racial and homophobic slurs. EDDIE VAN HALEN’s Ex-Wife VALERIE BERTINELLI: ‘I Didn’t Break Up VAN HALEN’

Eddie Van Halen‘s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli has dismissed the long-standing belief among some fans that she contributed to the split of the original lineup of VAN HALEN. Bertinelli, who has spent the last few weeks promoting her new book, “Enough Already: Learning To Love The Way I Am Today”, opened up about her life with the legendary guitarist during an appearance on the “Literally! With Rob Lowe” podcast. Speaking about what life was like after the pair began dating in late 1980 following their initial meeting backstage at a VAN HALEN concert, she said: “After Ed and I became involved, all of a sudden there was this rule that there was no girlfriends and no wives allowed on the road. “I got along great with Al [drummer Alex Van Halen] and with ...

RICK ALLEN: DEF LEPPARD’s Setlist For ‘The Stadium Tour’ Will Include Songs From Upcoming Album

In a new interview with the 98.7 The Gater radio station in West Palm Beach, Florida, DEF LEPPARD drummer Rick Allen was asked if he and his bandmates have had a chance to begin rehearsing yet for their upcoming “The Stadium Tour”, which will finally take place this summer after originally being planned for 2020 and later being moved to 2021. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “No, but I have a really cool setup at home where I can listen to the whole band minus the drums. And when I close my eyes, I can imagine myself being on stage. So it’s great because it allows me to do all the homework I need to do, just to be prepared. I walk in on that first day, and I’m ready to go.” Asked how long it has been since he and the rest of DEF LEPPARD have...

JUDAS PRIEST was rejoined by guitarist Glenn Tipton on stage during the band’s headlining concert Tuesday night (March 15) at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. As he has done a number of other times over the course of the last four years, Tipton appeared with PRIEST for the encore, performing “Metal Gods”, “Breaking The Law” and “Living After Midnight”. Fan-filmed video of the performance can be seen below. Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s eight years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of JUDAS PRIEST‘s latest studio album, “Firepower”. He was replaced by “Firepowe...

PHILIP ANSELMO Wants To Use His ROB HALFORD-Style Vocal Range Again For ‘Old-School’ Metal Project

In a new interview with Drew Stone of The New York Hardcore Chronicles Live!, former PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo was asked if he is working on any music at the moment. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I just pretty much had a new studio installed next door [to my house], and we’re working all kind of bugs out and whatnot. So I tell my guy, my engineer, I tell him, I said, ‘Just program some drums, man. Give me some drums. Give me a different drum beat every day — up beat, down beat, whatever. Give me something.’ So I’ll walk in, there’s a drumbeat, and I’ll just pick up any instrument and just go right off the cuff. And it is some of the worst music you can imagine. “I don’t know, man,” he continued. “I&...

Encanto Composer Germaine Franco on the Magic of Collaboration: “We Felt Like We Had This Amazing Gift”

A Zoom malfunction meant we had to restart midway through our conversation, but Oscar-nominated composer Germaine Franco was more than understanding — because Encanto was a COVID production. “Usually you want to be in the same room so everybody’s listening to the same mix, the same speaker, the same environment,” she tells Consequence via Zoom. “But I was presenting cues on Zoom, and everyone had different headphones. It was so tricky to say, ‘Okay, I’m going to play this. I have no idea what it sounds like on your end.’” Prior to Encanto, Franco’s film work included The Book of Life, Dope, Tag, and Coco — her Oscar nomination this year, for the lively Colombian-influenced score of Disney’s latest animated feature, makes history, as she’s only the sixth woman ever to be nominated for...

Slipknot Finally Confirm Identity of “Tortilla Man”

It wasn’t exactly the best-kept secret, but Slipknot have finally officially confirmed the identity of the band member affectionately known as “Tortilla Man.” His name is Michael Pfaff, as most fans had already figured out. Slipknot revealed Pfaff’s identity with an Instagram post today (March 16th) promoting the percussionist’s “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit. The musician is seen in a photo holding a sign that says, “I am Michael Pfaff.” In 2019, Pfaff replaced longtime member Chris Fehn, who was ousted from the group after suing his bandmates over financial matters. It didn’t take too long for fans to name Pfaff, as he is a member of fellow Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan’s side project Dirty Little Rabbits. His identity was further cemented when an unmasked photo of him...
