Russia Blocks Access to Facebook

Russia plans to ban Facebook within the country, according to a statement by Russian communications regulator Roskomnadzo. Facebook had refused to comply with Russia’s demand that it stop fact-checking state media. Roskomnadzo’s statement (translated via The Verge) cites 26 cases of “discrimination against Russian media and information resources by Facebook” since October 2020. It also accused the social media platform of violating federal law by restricting access to state media outlets. This news arrives on the heels of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Since the war broke out last week, fleets of Russians have gathered in the streets to protest the invasion, and thousands have been arrested. While President Vladimir Putin has denied plans to institute martial law, the regi...

Rivers Cuomo Goes Country (I Guess) on Morgan Evans Duet “Country Outta My Girl”: Stream

Weezer’s got an entire genre-hopping covers album that insists Rivers Cuomo is open to anything, so we probably shouldn’t be surprised that he’s now featured on a country song. The frontman has teamed up with Morgan Evans for the track “Country Outta My Girl,” which you can listen to below. “Country Outta My Girl” has all the trappings of a modern pop-country song: twangy guitar and skittering electronic drums that mix like oil and water, a near-rap style vocal delivery, and incredibly on-the-nose lyrics that insist its artists are familiar with Southern culture. Over a scratchy acoustic riff, Evans details the ways that his Southern transplant girlfriend has maintained her country roots, from wearing cowboy boots on Rodeo Drive to drinking dirty martinis in mason jars. After Evans promise...

GOJIRA’s MARIO DUPLANTIER Releases Video For New Drum Solo, ‘Movement’

GOJIRA drummer Mario Duplantier has released a video for his latest drum solo “Movement”. The clip, which was directed by Anne Deguehegny, can be seen below. In an interview with the “Behind The Vinyl” podcast, GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier was asked if he ever has arguments with Mario, who is also his brother. He responded: “Sometimes, but we’re pretty patient. We have anger. I wouldn’t say we have anger issues, but sometimes I wonder. We respect and love each other very much. We’re aware that we’re dealing with a project that is very life-defining for us, and there’s a lot of people around us. So we’re pretty patient. Sometimes I can feel and I can tell — and he would say the same — that sometimes we just can’t s...

PAPA ROACH Releases Music Video For New Single ‘Cut The Line’

California rockers PAPA ROACH will release their new album, “Ego Trip”, on April 8 via New Noize Records in partnership with ADA Worldwide (WMG‘s independent label and artist services arm). The eleventh studio album of a career that continues to carve a fearless and singular path through a fourth decade, “Ego Trip” sees PAPA ROACH continuing to break new ground in a time when many are desperate for what they once knew. As vocalist Jacoby Shaddix explains: “Now isn’t the time for comfort or conformity, but to be inspired and build something new. Something better, in order to channel something more.” The official music video for “Cut The Line”, which directed by Jacoby‘s brother Bryson Roatch, brings the band back to the feeli...

Meshuggah Unveil New Song “Light the Shortening Fuse”: Stream

Meshuggah have unleashed “Light the Shortening Fuse,” the second single from their upcoming album Immutable (out April 1st). Following the powerful lead single “The Abysmal Eye,” Meshuggah deliver another crushing piece of progressive metal mastery. The compact and syncopated riffs of “Light the Shortening Fuse” have a heavier emphasis on groove, making the song a bit more accessible. But the Swedish band sacrifices none of its trademark brutality or songwriting complexities in the process. Thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer to hear the rest of Immutable, which drops in less than a month. The LP was recorded at Sweetspot Studios in Halmstad, Sweden, and mixed by Rickard Bengtsson and Staffan Karlsson. Vlado Meller (Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down) handled the mast...

Soul Glo Unleash “Driponomics” Ahead of Upcoming Album: Stream

Philadelphia hardcore band Soul Glo have shared the new song “Driponomics” from their upcoming album Diaspora Problems, arriving March 25th. Soul Glo blew us away with the album’s excellent lead single “Jump!! (Or Get Jumped!!!)((by the future))” and its invigorating music video. New song “Driponomics” takes a more experimental approach to the band’s fusion of punk, hip-hop, and industrial. Featuring a guest verse by Philly rapper Mother Maryrose, the track is an uncompromising sonic commentary “on capitalism and economic disparity.” “’Driponomics’ is for everyone doing what they have to do to get by and to get fly,” the band commented via a press release. “Oftentimes lower-income and working class people are criticized for how they survive out here, especially in times of crisis. People a...

No matter how much you love Dua Lipa, nobody adores her quite as much as Papa Richy, a man who went viral on TikTok recently after his granddaughter gifted him tickets to the pop star’s “Future Nostalgia” Tour. But the 80-year-old superfan was in for an even more personal surprise when he got to meet Lipa during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (March 3rd), and fulfilled his dream of getting to dance with her. “We reached out to [Papa Richy] pretending that we were a radio station in new York and told him that he won a contest for the number one TikTok video of the year — he believed this, he loved it,” Fallon explained to the audience. “He thinks he’s about to be interviewed on a radio show and get a tour of 30 Rock.” Shortly after, Richy and his ...

SHINEDOWN Releases ‘Planet Zero’ Music Video

SHINEDOWN has released a thought-provoking and cinematic music video for its new single, “Planet Zero”. The clip arrives as “Planet Zero” hits No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this week. The explosive single, the title track from the band’s seventh studio album, out April 22 via Atlantic Records, is SHINEDOWN‘s 17th No. 1 and sixth consecutive chart-topper, breaking a new record for the most No. 1s in the 40-year history of the chart. Directed by Charles De Meyer, the video brings to life a glimpse of a dystopian future (complete with a menacing A.I. character named Cyren from the album’s interludes who we hear at the end of the music video) that warns of the dangerous dehumanizing consequences of cancel culture run rampant.
