Back with yet another memorable collaboration, Rezz and fknsyd have created an ethereal reimagination of Eurythmics’ all-time classic, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” is a haunting rework, utilizing fknsyd’s otherworldly vocals while implementing Rezz’s near-perfect production. It’s not the Canadian producer’s usual fare, however, as she’s ditched the bass-heavy sound we normally hear in favor of a plucky arrangement of synths. The slower, eerie feel of the rework befits both artists as well as the original lyrics of the song. Earlier this year, Rezz unveiled her third studio album, Spiral, to much praise from the electronic music world. The LP included her hit single with D...
Facing a pair of copyright lawsuits over her smash hit song “Levitating,” Dua Lipa has lawyered up – hiring the same attorney who won similar cases for Katy Perry, Jay-Z and Drake. Dua has retained Christine Lepera and her law firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp to represent her in both lawsuits, court records show, including one filed in New York that claims she ripped off a 1979 disco track, and another in California that claims she stole material from a 2017 reggae song. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Lepera is a go-to defense attorney in such cases. In just the last two years, she has won rulings defeating such cases against Jay-Z – he was accused of illegally sampling a 1960s soul song on “Paper Chase” – and against Drake, who was sued f...
Maneskin unveiled their latest single, “Supermodel,” on May 13, and members Damiano David, Ethan Torchio and Thomas Raggi recently sat down with Billboard to discuss the meaning behind their ode to Los Angeles’ clout-chasing culture. The song, which features lyrics such as “When you’re not looking, she’s stealing your Basquiat/ Low-waisted pants on OnlyFans, I’d pay for that,” was inspired by living in L.A. for a long period of time, which frontman David says felt like “a mix of emotions.” Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “What shocked us was there’s a lot of people who only try to get something from others and they want to be at the top of the spots and under the spotlight,” he explains. “But then you see that they’re playing a characte...

Artists have previewed unreleased songs at live performances and with radio stations for decades, but thanks to the rise of TikTok and a handful of successful DIY social media campaigns — Lil Nas X’s heavily teased and memed efforts for “Old Town Road” on Twitter and Triller is an early example — the practice has become de rigueur for artists. And not everyone thinks it’s good business. What started as a low-cost method for unsigned talents to casually test audience reaction and build up streaming service pre-saves to their songs is now the norm for even household names hoping to break their next hit before committing to a release date on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The Billboard Hot 100 contains ample proof of the method’s success: SZA earned her first solo...
Chance the Rapper on Friday dropped off his latest multi-medium visual for “A Bar About a Bar,” which sees Chicago painter Nikko Washington creating the single’s artwork on canvas. A press release states that Washington’s piece is inspired by “Abar, the First Black Superman’s unorthodox, Afro-futuristic, and surrealist depiction of racial inequality, racial integration and classism in the suburbs of white America,” according to Stereogum. Elsewhere in the video, which is directed by Chance himself, the rapper works on several writing exercises with Vic Mensa, who he previously collaborated with on last month’s “Wraith (Writing Exercise #3).” Washington’s painting, which also dons the name “A Bar About a Bar,” will be showing at the Art Institute of Chicago this weekend. “Full circle moment...

Aside from his recent link-up with UK rap veteran Joe Grind on “That’s How You Feel,” it’s been roughly a year since Novelist supplied fans with new music. Following a busy EP-filled 2020 that saw mini projects hit the streets in abundance, you only need to look at the likes of Inferno, Rain Fire and, Heat to see N.O.V. explore grime, rap, drill, drum & bass and even reggae. Now today, the Lewisham-born rapper is celebrating his latest project entitled 4 Tha Homiez. In many ways, the 10-tracker is an inheritor to the energy and swagger heard on previous drops, although there’s a focus on West Coast rap this time around. Thanks to production from Novelist himself, and close collaborators Prem and SusTrapperazzi, the trio has compiled a selection of ‘G Funk’ records with the through...
