Tiësto and Deorro, two of the electronic music scene’s most prolific hitmakers, have joined forces for the first time. “Savage” is out now via Tiësto’s venerated Musical Freedom imprint. The track is an eclectic fusion of both Tiësto and Deorro’s signature sounds, with an anthemic vocal sample and stentorian synths that unite within an intoxicating, four-on-the-floor beat. The pulsing bassline and snappy percussive elements are just two of the high-flying components fans would expect in a collaboration of this magnitude. Above & Beyond‘s Jono Grant has caught the synthwave bug. Working in secret alongside longtime friend and fellow trance producer Darren Tate, Grant has formulated a new collaborative alias, JODA. Dropping their debut track, “We Find Ourselves,” Tate and Grant say the single is inspired by 2011’s Drive soundtrack, one of the most acclaimed film scores of the modern era. The working relationship between Grant and Tate was first established nearly two decades ago. In 2003, they linked in the studio and produced two melodically dense, uplifting trance singles, “‘Let The Light Shine In” and “Nocturnal Creatures.” As Grant’s career began to take off with Above & Beyond and Tate’s solo career as DT8 prospered, the two...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Twitter / Twitter First, let’s just acknowledge the fact that Black people were pretty much split in our reactions to Juneteenth becoming an official federal holiday last year. While many of us were excited that this thing that had been part of the culture for decades had finally been recognized nationally for the first time, there were those of us who were immediately reminded of what happens to culturally Black things once they’re Columbused by the white majority—those culturally Black things get swept up swiftly into the “it’s all of our culture now, we’ll just keep it at my house” world of whiteness. (See Black slang, Black vernacular, Tik Tok dances, virtually every popular American music genre and, currently, the word “woke.”) That second set of Bla...
Future has dropped a new music video for his single with Kanye West, “Keep It Burnin.” Directed by Rick Nyce, the video shows Future wearing sunglasses while West continues his habit of keeping his face covered with a black mask.
