When Interpol announced their new album The Other Side of Make-Believe, they shared a Van Alpert–directed video for the lead single “Toni.” It was the first of a two-part film, and the second part arrives today. Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest Albums Archived in Library of Congress
Classic 1990s hip-hop LPs by Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest will be archived in the Library of Congress, the National Recording Registry announced today. Along with Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and Low End Theory, the new full-length additions to the registry are Alicia Keys’ Songs in A Minor, the Shirelles’ Tonight’s the Night, Terry Riley’s In C, the Ry Cooder–produced Buena Vista Social Club, Bonnie Raitt’s Nick of Time, Duke Ellington’s Ellington at Newport, and Max Roach’s We Insist! Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite. Toro y Moi and Eric André Announce Short Film Goes By So Fast: Watch the Trailer
Toro y Moi and Eric André have announced Goes By So Fast, a new short film that serves as a companion piece to the new Toro y Moi album Mahal. Directed by Harry Israelson, it’s a combination fiction, documentary, animated, and concert film. The film will premiere April 22 at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles, where Chaz Bear will DJ. Watch a trailer below. Mahal is out April 29 via Dead Oceans. It features Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the Mattson 2, Salami Rose Joe Louis, and Sofie, plus “The Loop.” Toro y Moi will perform at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival, which takes place from July 15-17 at Chicago’s Union Park. Tortoise Announce U.S. Tour Dates
Tortoise have announced a brief U.S. tour for later this fall. The trek consists of four concerts in total—one each in Brooklyn, Chicago, Portland, and Los Angeles—at the start of October.
