Panda Bear has made public a new song that was apparently rejected by popular meditation app Calm. On Monday (April 11), he tweeted a link to download a 17-minute song file titled “calm app (rejected).wav.” The upload sparked reasonable speculation that Panda Bear’s piece had, in fact, been turned down by the app, a platform that has commissioned music from Clams Casino, Flock of Dimes, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, RZA, Moses Sumney, Emily A. Sprague, and more. You can listen to Panda Bear’s new song below. When contacted by Pitchfork, a representative for Panda Bear offered no comment. Pitchfork has also reached out to representatives for Calm for more information and comment. Panda Bear issued his last solo album Buoys in 2019. Earlier this year, Animal Collective returned with their latest LP...
The CMT Music Awards scored huge year to year ratings increases on Monday — no surprise, since the show moved from its namesake cable outlet to broadcaster CBS. ABC’s American Idol finished in a near-tie with the awards, with both coming in way ahead of American Song Contest on NBC. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news The CMT Music Awards averaged 5.33 million viewers for CBS, almost four times the 1.43 million who watched the 2021 awards across CMT, Paramount Network and MTV (last year’s show also aired on MTV2 and TV Land, but figures from those two aren’t immediately available). Monday’s show delivered a 0.67 rating among adults 18-49, more than doubling the 0.29 for CMT, Paramount Net and TV Land last year....
Teyana Taylor and her husband Iman Shumpert grace the cover of Ebony’s April issue alongside their two daughters, Iman Tayla (affectionately called Junie) and Rue, and the happy couple addressed rumors that surfaced earlier this year regarding their marriage. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news In February, a TikTok user alleged that an unnamed singer — who fans believed was Taylor — suffered a drug overdose after learning that her husband had cheated on her. Taylor initially slammed the rumors in since-deleted social media posts. The Shumperts both addressed the allegations as part of the cover story, which also discusses the importance of Black love, navigating the industry, raising their children, and Junie’s international fashion success. “Thes...
Hailey Bieber has had enough. On Tuesday, the model shared a message with her online haters and didn’t hold anything back. “This is for you guys in my comments every single time I post,” she captioned the frank TikTok video, which finds her speaking directly to the camera. “Leave me alone at this point,” she says in the clip. “I’m minding my business, I don’t do anything, I don’t say anything. Leave me alone. Please. Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else. Please.” The online harassment experienced by Bieber has been a near-constant in her life ever since she started dating now-husband Justin Bieber. In fact, back in December 2020, the pop star even publicly called out a fan of his...
It’s full-speed ahead for Flume. The Australian electronic music master is about to hit the road, and he’s gearing up for Palaces, his third studio album. But first, he unveils the music video for “Sirens,” the second release from it. Directed by Daniel Askill (Sia, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney), the “Sirens” video reaches deep into dreamland. Askill keeps the camera trained on vocalist-turned-siren Caroline Polachek, who drops in from the heavens to check on Flume, who’s out of sorts on a fantasy island. Once again, the producer is kitted-out in his motorbike leathers and helmet, hanging in a space that could be Gollum’s cave if the Extreme Makeover team got involved. “This amazing track by Flume and Caroline inspired us to create a film that hovers at the intersection of nature and te...
Alesso and renowned hip-hop artist Ty Dolla $ign have teased a collaboration on Twitter, announcing that new music is in the works. Dolla $ign posted a few pictures on Twitter and wrote, “Cooked up a few of em with my bro Alesso.” The Swedish dance music superstar then retweeted it and added, “They are 🔥.” Alesso recently produced an ominous track for the new The Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson. “DARK” is a house track with eerie soundscapes, distorted synths and relentless, pulsing energy.
