After more than two years since the project’s original announcement, Netflix has finally announced the release date for Cyberpunk 2077‘s anime adaptation, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, in a new NSFW trailer. Set in the same Night City location as the open-world game from CD Projekt Red, the new anime follows the journey of a street kid fighting for survival in “a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future.” To make a place for himself, he decides to become a mercenary outlaw known as edgerunner or cyberpunk. With almost 60 percent of its global viewership tuning into at least one anime title back in 2021, it’s no surprise that Netflix is now hoping to further grow its anime category. To do so, the streaming giant has just entered into a new licensing partnership with Nippon TV, bringing even more beloved titles to the streaming service. Among the 13 new entrants will be Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Berserk, Claymore, Nana, Monster, Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! and Parasyte: The Maxim. Gearing up for the Fall premiere of Black Adam, the film’s lead Dwayne Johnson took to his Twitter to give fans possibly the clearest look at Pierce Brosnan‘s character, Dr. Fate. Following the announcement of the delays of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam appears to be the only DC Comics film slated to release by the end of this year. The new poster revealed by Johnson shows a detailed look at Dr. Fate’s uniform. This year’s most popular new anime series, Spy x Family, has officially announced an October 1 premiere date for Part 2 of Season 1. With a dozen episodes released so far, 13 new episodes are set to arrive to round out the first season. In a minute-long teaser for Part 2 released last month, Agent Twilight, also known by Loyd Forger, is seen looking to stop a terrorist bombing while joined by the rest of the Forger family — consisting of the pink-haired telepath Anya and career assassin Yor. The following episodes will also look to adapt the “Doggy Crisis” Arc in which the Forgers adopt a pet dog that has the ability to see the future. The upcoming third season of Netflix‘s Conversations With a Killer documentary series will focus on Jeffrey Dahmer. As confirmed by Variety, Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes will feature a total of three episodes set to premiere on October 7. Lance Reddick has released his statement on Netflix‘s cancellation of their live-action Resident Evil. The actor took to Twitter to share a short video addressing the show’s cancellation, thanking the fans and all the people involved in the making of their adaptation. “As all of you are well aware by now, our show, Resident Evil on Netflix, has been cancelled, and the haters and the trolls not withstanding,” he began, before stating his gratitude to the fans who tuned in and loved the series for what it was. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige will reportedly star in Eddie Murphy‘s Beverly Hills Cop sequel. While their roles have not been disclosed, Deadline reports that the upcoming Netflix film, helmed by Mark Molloy, will be entitled Axel Foley. Production on the film is currently underway and sees Murphy return as Axel Foley for the first time since 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop III. The actor will also serve as producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer,  Chad Oman and Melissa Reid, Will Beall as scriptwriter and Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic as executive producers. In light of Ezra Miller‘s recent arrests and controversies in the past few years, the non-binary actor who is the lead in The Flash, recently met with Warner Bros. leadership to discuss the future of the film. Netflix is reportedly looking at a $7 USD to $9 USD price tag for its upcoming ad-supported tier. According to Bloomberg, the streaming service is looking to start off slow with the ads, introducing around four minutes of commercials per hour — a much lower rate than its rivals. The ads will be played before and during programs, with Netflix planning to hold off on utilizing too many tailored commercials and allowing subscribers to watch the same ads in a non-repetitive manner.
