Leonardo DiCaprio could be asked to join the cast of Squid Game in its third season, according to creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk. In Netflix‘s recent congratulatory press conference in Seoul, Hwang first confirmed that the show’s upcoming second season will not include any major Hollywood actors. “That’s not in the plan and if the stage changes, maybe in Season 3 – but for Season 2, it is still set in Korea. Leonardo DiCaprio did say he’s a big fan of ‘Squid Game,’ so maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games,” he revealed. Gearing up for the opening of Studio Ghibli Theme Park, a sneak peek has been revealed to fans around the world showing just what they can expect. Studio Ghibli is slated to open in early November and will include three areas, the Ghibli Warehouse, Youth Hill and Dondoko Forest. The area includes three special exhibition rooms, a shop and a cafe as well as a large theater room. The theater room, Orizona, is set to feature 170 seats where audiences can view 10 of Studio Ghibli short animations. Each of the pieces are nine to 16 minutes in length and are all directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The room is located in the Mitaka Forest Ghibli Museum. Sony Pictures has announced a new film in the Karate Kid franchise. According to reports, the movie is billed as the “return of the original ‘Karate Kid’ franchise” to the silver screen and is scheduled to premiere on June 7, 2024. The upcoming film will mark the first movie in the franchise since the Jaden Smith-starring reboot in 2010 but will not have any connection to Netflix‘s Cobra Kai series, as confirmed by show co-creator Jon Hurwitz. “The guys and I would love to make Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies and hope to someday. Sony Pictures is delaying many of its major titles releasing in the coming two years, including the highly-anticipated Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. According to reports, Madame Web is being postponed by four months and will be premiering on February 16, 2024 instead of its original October 6, 2023 date, while Kraven the Hunter will experience an even longer delay of 10 months, premiering on October 6, 2023 instead of January 13, 2023. Sony has announced that it is postponing the release of the upcoming Garfield movie, which stars Chris Pratt as the orange lasagna-loving feline. According to reports, the reboot will now hit theaters during the Memorial Day Weekend of May 24, 2024 rather than February 16. Game developers miHoYo and animation studio Ufotable are teaming up for a Genshin Impact anime. The two companies recently unveiled the news with a concept trailer teasing the art style of the adaptation, which is very similar to the original game that actually takes inspiration from anime. A release date was not unveiled but the concept trailer hinted at the collaboration being a “long-term project,” hopefully meaning that the anime will be released in several seasons. According to reports, Warner Bros. Pictures is now developing a sequel to Constantine. The news comes 17 years after the release of the original live-action adaptation of the DC Comics character and has John Constantine fans excited after months of rumors. Constantine 2 is expected to be a direct sequel to the 2005 supernatural thriller and will see a reunion of star Keanu Reeves and director Francis Lawrence. Akiva Goldsman will be responsible for the screenplay and will be producing the project through his Weed Road Pictures imprint, alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella. Netflix on Friday dropped off the official trailer for Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s forthcoming true crime series, Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starring American Horry Story actor Evan Peters. Peters will depict the namesake serial killer, who horrifically took the lives of seventeen innocent people between 1978 and 1991.
