For anyone asking why it took Syd five years to release her sophomore album Broken Hearts Club, it’s all in the title. The Internet frontwoman, who’s two weeks shy of her 30th birthday, experienced her “first real broken heart” — one she admits she never saw coming. She reveals that fact with a laugh in the present day, as she sits on the floor of her Los Angeles home with two foster dogs, but the painful ordeal caused her to take a long break and put the creation of her Fin. followup on pause. While Broken Hearts Club was released five years after its predecessor, it took the artist approximately two years to complete. Within that two-year time frame, Syd took a three-month break, restarted the record, removed and added songs to the tracklist, wrote new songs and took her sweet time with ...

Interview Magazine was founded by Andy Warhol and usually publishes — you guessed it — interviews. But what happens when a famous artist would rather not sit for someone else’s questions? On April 7th, Donald Glover provided an answer of sorts when the magazine published him interviewing himself. “Yeah, so first question, why’d you want to do this?” he writes, before responding, “I guess I don’t love interviews and I asked myself, ‘Why don’t you like interviews?’ And I think part of it is that the questions are usually the same. This way I can get questions I usually don’t get asked.” He offers project updates, bizarre opinions, reflections on his own work, and more. The results are occasionally illuminating and often very strange. Glover does indeed ask himself questions that few oth...
When he was younger, Latin Grammy Award nominee KURT used to sing Sting’s songs at bars where he’d perform in his native Mexico. Now, he’s singing one of them with Sting. The two have joined forces for “Por Su Amor,” a new Spanish version of “For Her Love” from Sting’s 2021 studio album, The Bridge. The recording will be released this Friday, April 8th, via all streaming services, along with a video (premiering exclusively below) that was filmed in early March in Los Angeles. It follows Sting’s solo version of the Spanish language track, released back in February. The Spanish rendition of “For Her Love” came about when Sting and his manager-producer Martin Kierszenbaum, were in Cabo San Lucas during a break between shows. “Neither of us are beach people, really,” Sting tells Consequence du...
Action Bronson’s latest LP is only a few weeks away. The Queens rapper has announced that a new album, dubbed Cocodrillo Turbo, will drop April 29th. As a preview, he’s shared first single, “SubZero.” Listen to the track below. Bronson’s been an MC for over a decade, but he’s coming in swinging with Cocodrillo Turbo. “I don’t feel like I’m given the fucking respect that I deserve,” he said in a statement. Here, he pulls in the big guns, co-producing the 10-track album with our 2021 Producer of The Year, The Alchemist, as well as Daringer and Roc Marciano. The project also features Conway The Machine, Roc Marciano, Hologram, and Meyhem Lauren in guest spots. The record’s name combines this baller mentality with Bronson’s love of the water. “I first came up with this album while in the water...
You know how it is with white supremacists — they dish it, but they can’t take it. Such is the case with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who reported Jimmy Kimmel to the Capitol Police over a joke he made about her on Jimmy Kimmel Live! In a recent monologue, the late night host criticized the Georgia Republican for her comments on Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. “This woman, Klan mom, is especially upset with the three Republican senators who said they’ll vote yes on Ketanji Brown Jackson, who’s nominated for the Supreme Court,” Kimmel said. “She tweeted, ‘Murkowski, Collins, and Romney are pro-pedophile. They just voted for KBJ.’ Wow, where is Will Smith when you really need him?” Kimmel was, of course, referring to Will Smith’s slap against Chris Rock at the Oscars. MTG u...
Former VAN HALEN bassist and current MAMMOTH WVH frontman Wolfgang Van Halen has reflected on the passing of FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins, whose death shook the music world late last month. Speaking to Jonathan Clarke, host of “Out Of The Box” on Q104.3, New York’s classic rock station, he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I only met [Taylor] once. I saw him live many times, but I met him… He came to a [VAN HALEN] show in San Diego on the ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ tour in 2012. And he came backstage. And him, my Dad [legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen] and I talked for — gosh — it had to be, like, 45 minutes when we had to leave in a half hour; we kind of stayed. It was really cool. I remember… It blew my mind. He told me th...
RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson was asked in a new interview with Steve Black of the Detroit radio station WRIF for his thoughts about what is happening in Ukraine right now. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “This thing that’s going on in Ukraine right now is much more difficult to handle [than the pandemic]. I am just so heartbroken and I am so sick of watching these images. In 2022, what’s happening in a sovereign country by the Russians, who are… You can’t blame all the Russians. [Russian president Vladimir] Putin has plans, and he’s gotta be stopped. It’s come to the point where this is no longer acceptable in any manner, and we’ve gotta either be willing to sacrifice for the sake of the world than let someone like this do what he...
SALIVA frontman Bobby Amaru says that “the timing wasn’t right” for the band’s planned reunion with original vocalist Josey Scott. Scott left SALIVA at the end of 2011 after 15 years with the group, reportedly to pursue a solo Christian music career. He was quickly replaced by Amaru, who can be heard on SALIVA‘s last four releases: “In It To Win It” (2013), “Rise Up” (2014), “Love, Lies & Therapy” (2016) and “10 Lives” (2018). In October 2019, Scott announced that he was returning to SALIVA, explaining at the time that he wanted to get together with his former bandmates and “write a badass record.” Less than a year and a half later, in March 2021, SALIVA guitarist Wayne Swinny poured cold water on...
Ted Nugent has defended Florida’s controversial new “Don’t Say Gay” law, saying that it is about giving parents “the right to guide and nurture and educate their children.” The law, titled “Parental Rights In Education”, has been dubbed by critics the “Don’t Say Gay” law because it seeks to ban discussion of gender and sexuality issues with younger students. Proponents of the law point out that it doesn’t mention the word “gay” although it does, however, contain the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity,” each twice. The most notable part of the law provides that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may n...
