Now calling his own shots, La Maquina released his long-awaited major-label solo debut album God Don’t Make Mistakes and it is without question an early contender for album of the year. Fans of Conway were anticipating the release of the album since the 2019 Griselda group album, WWCD, the collective’s major-label debut on Shady Records. Kanye West Reacts to ‘DONDA 2’ Not Being Eligible to Chart on Billboard

Earlier this week, Kanye West‘s DONDA 2 album has been ruled ineligible for Billboard charts. Due to the fact that his album is exclusively available on the Stem Player, the album has violated Billboard’s merchandise bundle policy. The policy deems albums sold with merchandise to be ineligible for its charts. Ye originally premiered DONDA 2 at a na event in Miami on February 22. The next day, he dropped four of the songs on his Stem Player website, with 12 other songs made available the next day. Last year’s DONDA album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, competing with Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. At the time of its release, the album was the biggest release of 2021. It tied with Eminem’s record for most No. 1 debuts in a row on the album charts. After hearing that DONDA 2 was no longe...

Giancarlo Esposito to Star in AMC Remake of BBC Series The Driver

Giancarlo Esposito is knocking once again on AMCs’s door, starring and executive producing the network’s upcoming BBC remake of The Driver. It will mark their third collaboration following the Emmy-stashing crime drama Breaking Bad and its ongoing prequel Better Call Saul. The show was announced by AMC Networks on March 8th with a six-episode first season that will retool the 2014 BBC miniseries, which starred fellow AMC alum David Morrissey (The Walking Dead). The American version will place Esposito in a new type of face-off as the taxi-driving protagonist Vince, who “agrees to chauffer a New Orleans-based, Zimbabwean gangster notorious for exploiting undocumented immigrants at the U.S. southern ports.” Though the plot seems to be rife with compromising moral quandaries, Esposito’s worki...

BTS Fans Won’t Be Allowed to Clap or Yell at Their Upcoming Korea Concerts

BTS fans are an intense lot, but they’ll have to find a way to tone it down when the boy band returns to their home of Seoul this weekend. Due to government COVID-19 protocols, fans won’t be allowed to clap, yell, or stand up at the group’s upcoming concerts at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium (via Variety). “Cheering loudly, yelling, chanting and standing up during “BTS Permission To Dance On Stage — Seoul” is strictly prohibited according to government guidelines,” BTS’ management company, Big Hit Music, said in a statement. Attendees at the concerts — set for March 10th, 12th, and 13th — will instead be provided with clappers to emulate crowd noise. Seating will also be limited from the stadium’s 70,000 capacity to just 15,000 attendees per night. “The event may be changed or canceled de...

Disney Pledges $5 Million to LGBTQ Rights Following “Don’t Say Gay” Bill Controversy

The Walt Disney Company is pledging $5 million to the Human Rights Campaign and other LGBTQ+ organizations in light of Florida’s discriminatory “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Additionally, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced plans to meet with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to discuss the company’s concerns with the bill, Variety reports. The Parental Rights in Education bill, more commonly known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, prevents Florida educators from discussing issues of gender and sexuality in the classroom and allows parents to sue schools and teachers who do so. The bill has been passed by Florida’s House of Representatives and Senate, and DeSantis is expected to sign it into law. Disney’s donation comes after the company came under fire for not speaking out against the bill; the Orlando S...

Ryan Reynolds Is Really, Really Reynolds-y In Netflix’s The Adam Project: Review

The Pitch: The Adam Project is centered on the kind of question asked during job interviews and looming existential crises: “What would you say to your younger self, should you have the chance?” But in the case of Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds), that’s not why he’s traveled back from the year 2050 to the present. Adult Adam’s on a quest to find his wife Laura (Zoe Saldana), a fellow time traveler in the program controlled by the duplicitous Maya Sorian (Catherine Keener). Unfortunately, he doesn’t quite hit the time period he was looking for, instead blundering across his pre-teen present-day self (Walker Scobell), a plucky but troubled kid coping with the recent death of his scientist father Louis (Mark Ruffalo), school bullies, and other indignities of growing up. While initially reluctant to...

Google Files Patent for Wearable Devices to Control Music by Drawing on Your Skin

You know that song by Divinyls, “I Touch Myself”? Well, it would be perfect for Google’s recent patent filing, which may allow users to choose music by drawing on their skin. Google has reportedly filed a patent for skin drawing technology for its wearable devices, specifically the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds. The patent, which was spotted by LetsGoDigital, shows how users can control their music by swiping or tapping on their skin near the device.  By simply tapping near the gadget, a mechanical wave is generated and read by the device’s built-in accelerometers and sensors. They interpret the incoming wave as a gesture for various commands, like skipping to the next song or fast-forwarding. Each wearable device will use machine learning technology to understand...
