Iconic funk singer Betty Davis has died, Rolling Stone reports. According to a press release, Davis died this morning at 4:40 a.m. Eastern in Homestead, Pennsylvania. The press release also stated that Davis was born on July 26, 1944; the musician’s has birth year was previously reported to have been 1945. Betty Davis was 77 years old. “It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Betty Davis, a multi-talented music influencer and pioneer rock star, singer, songwriter, and fashion icon,” Davis’ longtime friend Connie Portis said in a statement. “Most of all, Betty was a friend, aunt, niece, and beloved member of her community of Homestead, Pennsylvania, and of the worldwide community of friends and fans. Omar Apollo has announced his debut LP Ivory with a video for “Invincible,” his new song with Daniel Caesar. Ivory is due out April 8 via Warner. Watch the video, directed by frequent Bad Bunny collaborator Stillz, below. In November, Apollo shared “Bad Life,” a collaboration with Kali Uchis. Caroline Polachek has shared a new single titled “Billions.” It’s co-produced by Polachek and Danny L Harle and arrives with a visual co-directed by Polachek and Matt Copson. Zendaya stars in a new Super Bowl commercial that is narrated by (and features a brief appearance from) Outkast rapper André 3000. It’s an advertisement for Squarespace and it’s directed by Edgar Wright. The ad is built around the tongue twister “Sally sold seashells by the seashore.” Find the commercial (and an extended version) below.
