SLASH’s Advice To Young Artists: ‘Stick To The Music That You Really Love’

In a brand new interview with CNN Indonesia, Slash was asked what piece of advice he would give to young musicians who are just starting out. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “The music industry has changed so much since I got into it. It’s hard to sort of give anybody any kind of real advice because I’m still trying to learn how to navigate the sort of new terrain. But I think the most important thing is to stick to the music that you really love — don’t let anybody try and tell you different — and then go and try and figure out how you can connect with an audience and the best way to make that possible and do what you have to do and be prepared to work really, really hard and to sacrifice everything in order to do what you love to do.” SLAS...

In a message on the GoFundMe page, Holmes‘s drummer Steve Jackson wrote: “Hi Everyone, this is a tough message to write. You probably won’t know me but for the past 4 years I have been playing drums for Chris Holmes or you may know him as the ‘Mean Man‘. In the time I’ve spent getting to know Chris, I can assure you this is so far from the truth, as many of you who have met Chris will agree. He has a lot of time for his fans and...

IAN ANDERSON Says METALLICA Was ‘Very Gentlemanly’ About GRAMMY Loss To JETHRO TULL

METALLICA was nominated for the very first “Hard Rock/Metal Performance” Grammy in 1989, but famously lost to JETHRO TULL, a band distinguished mainly by its heavy use of flute. Fans — and even some audience members — were rightly outraged, though TULL‘s record label tried to make light of the faux pas by placing a Billboard ad that read, “The flute is a heavy, metal instrument.” Asked in a new interview with the St. Louis, Missouri radio station KSHE 95 if he ever got a chance to “to rub in the face of METALLICA” the fact that his band won a “Hard Rock/Metal Performance” Grammy over the San Francisco Bay Area heavy metal giants, JETHRO TULL leader Ian Anderson said: “Well, I think METALLICA were actually very gentlemanly. At the ...

Kicking off the build-up for the release of his upcoming album, It’s Not Dry Yet, Pusha T has now released the first single off of the project, “Diet Coke.” Produced by Kanye West and 88-Keys, the track off of the rapper’s fourth studio album first surfaced in a snippet showing Pusha and Ye. Ye’s girlfriend Julia Fox then confirmed that two were recording a music video in an interview before it was played at an afterparty for NIGO’s Fall/Winter 2022 KENZO debut in Paris. It is interesting to note, 88-Keys had first created the beat 18 years ago as an interlude for his beat tape, The Makings of Crack Cocaine. Now released assistance from Kanye West and Pusha T’s verses, the track starts with a sample of Fat Joe yelling “yesterday’s price is not today’s price.” Pusha delivers mature braggado...

Hollywood and video games should have a much better relationship, but thanks to some very forgettable films based on popular video game franchises, that is sadly not the case. Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” Nike Air Force 1’s Might Not Drop

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: @levibentlee / Instagram Sorry sneakerheads, but it looks like the Drake “Certified Lover Boy” Air Force 1’s might not be making their way to your closet after all. Back in July of 2021 a picture was leaked of a pair of white-on-white OVO Air Force 1’s which had “Love You Forever” on the midsole instead of the customary “Air” along with heart shaped bumps on the front bottom soles. Immediately Drake Stans and sneaker aficionados went crazy as word was the kicks were set to drop in 2022, but unfortunately HypeBeast is reporting that the release may have been scrapped as the complexity of the design might have proven a bit much for a general or even limited release. On the flip side, Brendan Dunne disagrees with the rumor and says his source at Nike informe...

Neil Young Encourages Spotify Employees to Quit and Save Their Souls

Neil Young’s war against Spotify rages on for a third week: In a new letter posted to his website, Young not only encouraged musicians to leave the platform, he also advised Spotify’s employees leave the company “before it eats up your soul.” Young’s latest swipe at Spotify came at the end of a longer letter about misinformation and corporate greed. He noted that just 5% of America’s financial assets are in the hands of millennials (as compared to 70% held by baby boomers). He also argued for a boycott of banks like Chase, Citi, and Bank of America, which contribute financially to “the mass fossil fuel destruction of Earth.” Regarding Spotify, Young advised his fellow creators to “find a better place… to be the home of your art.” So far, artists including Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Steve...
