Cardi B Hit With $5 Million USD Lawsuit Over ‘Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1’ Cover Art

Kevin Michael Brophy Jr. is suing Cardi B for $5 million USD over the cover art of her 2016 mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1, which sees a man seemingly giving the rapper oral sex in the back of a vehicle. According to reports, Brophy Jr. claims that the artwork “ruined” his private life, as the tattoo seen on the back of the man is actually part of a tattoo piece on Brophy Jr.’s back. It was revealed in court that a digital artist found the tiger and serpent tattoo on the internet and superimposed the body art on the model of the cover, replacing the man’s original cartoon-style back tattoo. “It looks like I’m giving oral sex to somebody that’s not my wife, somebody that’s not my partner, and an image that I never signed off on, ever,” he said. Little Simz took home the 2022 Mercury Music Prize with her latest full-length release, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. The 28-year-old artist bested releases from Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Harry Styles, Jessie Buckley with Bernard Butler, Joy Crookes, Kojey Radical, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Self Esteem, Wet Leg and Yard Act for the revered music prize, winning £25,000 GBP as well. Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are teaming up for a run of co-headlining tour dates. Taking place in December, the seven-date jaunt will see the comedians visit cities including San Diego, Phoenix, Anaheim, San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento. Heavenly Announce Vinyl Reissues of All Four Studio Albums

Heavenly—the UK indie-pop group that were active from 1989 to 1996—have announced vinyl reissues of all four of their studio LPs. Their 1991 debut album Heavenly vs. Satan will be re-released first, landing November 11 via Skep Wax. 1992’s Le Jardin de Heavenly will be released in the early summer of 2023, while 1994’s The Decline and Fall of Heavenly, and 1996’s Operation Heavenly will get vinyl re-releases in 2024. In addition to vinyl editions of each album, Heavenly’s reissues will each include a 7″ booklet with lyrics and new liner notes penned by members of the band. Heavenly have also announced (already sold-out) concerts on May 19 and 20 at London’s Bush Hall—their first show in 28 years. SXSW 2023 Announces Initial Artist Lineup

SXSW Music Festival is returning  to Austin in 2023. The 37th annual event will take place March 13-18. Today, an initial lineup of artists has been announced. The festival will feature performances from hundreds of musicians, including Haru Nemuri, Otoboke Beaver, Julie Doiron, Son Rompe Pera, Thao, Algiers, Lee Bains, Jane Weaver, and more.
